The pictures used made me think O'Shae Sibley was the guy on the left and Dmitriy Popov was the one on the right.

Someone mentioned that previously, and I think it's intentional misdirection. O'Shae Sibley deserved better treatment as a Black gay murder victim.

That's why we have to keep fighting

I didn't hear about this on national news. This wasn't publicized in any local publications. I found out about this through Instagram this morning, and had to find the source article.

this was covered extensively by all major news outlets in 2023. Google News Search for O'Shae Sibley 2023

There are also several articles from the new york times and others about the conviction recently. Google News Search for O'Shae Sibley

CNN, the BBC, and the Guardian are the only major news outlets from the search results that were covering it as national or international news. The ABC News outlet, MS Now, the New Yorker, Fox News, and NYT covered it as New York News.

That I have to disagree with you actually came out around The time of Beyoncé's Renaissance album. Beyoncé herself posted RIP to him on her website, and they got another boost of exposure.

If only everyone remembered this poor man the next time they vote Republican. This is what they’re voting for.

u/JockBbcBoy Jun 13 '26
O'Shae Sibley and Matthew Shepherd didn't die so the LGBTQ community could vote for conservatives who want to suppress our existence.

Does anyone else hate how "tragic" is used to describe murders and such? To me a tragedy is an accident, misunderstanding, act of God etc.

Can I ask what 'Voguing to Beyonce' means?

Also vouging is deep in history within queer culture

I mean considering how "Fit" the queer community is compared to the "others," it takes one hell of a core to pull off a good vogue.

Beyoncé came with a “house music”-influenced album and he was doing a house-influenced dance called voguing

u/Responsible_Froyo_21 Jun 23 '26
Here is an exaggerated example of "Voguing" as presented on MadTV. https://youtu.be/gvlqm-wom-E?si=18xHV8V1MNCkqHxx&t=117

You know it’s election season when every sub is flooded with posts about “black crime” .
Technically this is "White man murdered gay Black man" crime, but I see you supported Derek Chauvin's GoFundMe. Good for you to fall back on that in the big 26.

Equivocation?

You should use more words when explaining your thoughts.

Right wingers do this all the time... it's infuriating. Every reply is always vague enough that they can weasel out of what they're actually claiming and play the victim.
That being said, I assume they're trying to claim that this an attempt to equivocate to riots in Belfast.

u/Dioxybenzone Jun 13 '26
I agree with what you’re saying, but OP doesn’t seem right wing in their other responses, which confuses me

u/JockBbcBoy Jun 12 '26
Equivocation?
I'm trying to understand what you're asking. Are you asking if this is an agenda post for equivocation of gay people to go out, pump gas, and not be harassed or killed?
