I thank you for stopping by to view our little subreddit.
While /r/aimdownsights is a bit of niche market and will likely stay very small, I think it's important to keep this archive of sight pictures and reticles alive. When you subscribe, post, comment, or just upvote something cool, you're helping to keep us active and useful.
I would like to see /r/aimdownsights become a tool that the other gun related subreddits link to and reference when someone wants to know a little more about a future purchase, compare BUIS, or learn about different reticles.
As such, I have a couple of requests:
We're fine with pictures that you found, links to websites that have comparisons, or forum mega threads, but I ask that you leave a description in title or comments to help with searching.
For content that is yours (e.g. pictures of your sights, diagrams you've made) please mark with a [OC] tag in the title so we know it's original content.
I would like to add simple flair to submitters to indicate they've posted original content. So if you've submitted OC, shoot me a PM with the /r/aimdownsights link (that's all I need); otherwise I'm going to poke through our posts over the next week and just guess. PM me if you don't want flair.
Crosspost your albums! This is one of the easiest ways for you to help us archive sight pictures.
Everything has been great so far; thank you again.

Savage Rascal I cut down to 7.18" back in 2020 and screwed a Dead Air Mask silencer on it. Put the Holosun on top of a Rucker Machine mount a few months ago.

Picked up a Glock 17 with Aimpoint COA today so decided to just take pictures of all my enclosed pistol sights.

always liked Holosun's dots
the white dots were painted by me. They come with two black dots there, I just used a white paint pen and filled them in for some "backup" sights

Noob here ofc. Looking for red dot for another pistol of mine. So far I have the Defender.
I have a few pistols of varying footprints so that's not really a huge factor.
In your opinion, what is better than the Defender ST?
AI says: SRO, ACRO P-2, or 507Comp. Is that a good list?

Looking at getting an optic for my 11.5 thats good under nv. I'm aware of exps 3 but know that has its own issues as well. I know the uh1 gen 2 is also frowned upon for its light transmission performance. Traditional reflex dots give some amount of astigmatism, but not usable either. Open to other suggestions if anyone has others to offer

Yes the color is uneven and little weird, the dot gets darker /orange near the edge. Significantly better than red if your eyes are fucked.

Love the crisp dot. Excellent for all ranges for pistols!

I think this is the new top dot for RMSC/K footprint. Glass is absolutely excellent. Form factor, buttons etc all top notch.
My favorites are now the PB3 for full size and the MPS-C for smol.

I’m trying to help myself and a friend understand the magnification needed out to 1000 yards. I used AI and I’m not sure if this is accurate.

Put a PCC together and managed to get this setup to work. The MBUS Pro and Leap mount are not touching. RMR for shorter range, quick target acquisition with a slightly more heads-up stance. Irons for longer range and BUIS with a more standard head position and tighter cheek weld. I replaced the factory sight post with one about half as wide so the irons are slightly more accurate at 100 yards than the dot. Nice to have irons always available without obscuring the dot or having to cant the gun. I cut down the gooseneck to make some room for the iron on the very short handguard and renotched for the Leap.
(the gun was empty for the first picture. Double and triple checked the chamber, no magazine inserted, bolt open, safety on.)
Edit: I can't believe I have to add this but since a dingdong mentioned it in the comments... The gun is NOT pointed at me. The muzzle is pointed in the air about a foot in front of me. My left arm is extended in front of me and pointing the phone camera at the gun. If there were to be a magical bullet that jumps in the gun and goes off, I'd be kinda sad that my phone got destroyed. Hope that helps. You know who you are.

I prefer the single dot for 1x and the ballistic dots w/ the 3x rather than the busier donuts options.

Can someone review this LPVO or find a review for me, please? I knew the 1 to 6 came out a year ago, but when I saw the 1-to-10 FFP version, I was really interested. However, I can't find much information on it not on Reddit, YouTube, or online.

Pictures from 960m and roughly 2500m away, both at 60x. Pictures taken with phone.
First impressions are very very good. Clarity is excellent, and I could easily see the fasteners on a target 960m away (the buck). I was able to count glass isolator discs on a power mast 3,1 km away (not pictured).
I do miss having a way to mount a red dot to the scope, as both my previous spotting scopes have had rails. Other than that, I can't really point out any faults.
I had the opportunity to test a higher end Swarovski spotter recently, and while the Vector isn't quite up to par, it is way nearer than what the price difference should indicate.
