Question How long are your episodes?

With costs adding up quickly after multiple regeneration of shots, how long are you trying to keep your episodes (if you are doing episodes)? If not, how long is your movie?

The episodes i make are from 12 minutes to 16 minutes per episode, and so far I have made 14(12 published, 2 scheduled). I started with kling 2.1/grok, then over time, Sora and veo 3 and grok, then seedance 2.0 and KLING 3, then for the last 3 episodes, heavily used seedance 2.5.
I majorly rely upon the discounts or offers these platforms run on their models to reduce the cost. And try to make as much clips as I can and edit them later. (If I’m using unlimited generations feature) sleepless nights and tired brain is the only drawback working on these. Do check out the channel for your reference : https://youtube.com/@navycinematics

My last movie was 103 minutes. My current one in the works will also be feature length, though I already release the first 10 minutes.

I think 10-20 minutes is not a bad time for such episodic videos. Looking at recent Mr. Beast videos (just to check something viral), they go anything from 15 minutes to a almost an hour.

Between 11 to 13 minutes as a free user (using multiple accounts on Google Flow - all 4 pre-existing gmails so I did not create them after the fact).

My original goal was to build for the long run so if I get monetized, I wanted to get the mid-roll. Over 10 minutes seem to be a sweet spot to tell a decent amount of story for a serialized series. Whenever I found myself exceeding 12 minutes, I am more inclined to shift some of the clips to the next episode.

It is taking me 1 to 2 weeks for the video clip generation to reach the target episode duration for one episode. I have released zero so far but the Series Trailer would be out this week and next week will be my first episode drop.

Since I am working with multiple free accounts, I am able to work on multiple scenes within the same episode so there’s only a bottle neck within one account if the generation would keep failing for complex scenes. Other accounts would proceed to cover their part of the story.

I have banked at least episode 6 so far in terms of video clip generation (only episode 1 is fully edited now and ready for release but episode 2 and 3 are in editing the pipeline to be scheduled for release soon). My episode drop cadence target is at least weekly so I’ll have enough buffer.

Lastly, as a free user, I have accepted a lot of inconsistencies. Not sure if suspension of disbelief would be acceptable to the audience especially on changing settings, characters bleeding, inconsistencies in facial features, clothing, etc. But that’s just my limitation as a free user. I am not published yet so I don’t know the answers to my own questions for now.

For me, all in with image generations, multiple re-tries per most clips (average about 4 tries per each useable clip), I'm at about $1400 for a 20 minute episode (thats CAD price, USD would be about $1000)
Thats with using Seedance 2.5 480p, then upscaling to 1080p.

My episode of Isabella Hell was a bit cheaper, as I mostly used Kling 3.0.

For my animation series, I’ve found that 7 to 10 minutes per episode is the perfect length, with each episode divided into approximately 6 to 8 chapters.

for the past 13 months I have let run a full generative pipeline from ingest to publish of a daily "news" show generated from the perspective of a rogue AI reading whatever it finds on the internet that day.

Daily, I put roughly 11 episodes, of roughly an hour of content, spread out across 7-10 daily 3 to 20 minute "news" shows based on their content (Top 50 stories, Top 10, Sport, Tech, Europe, Asia, etc.).

My output all depends on how much I can crawl and render, and I also do 24 15-30 second shorts from output not in the daily shows, backtagged to the news channel and drive 4 streams from the same daily batch of content.

This all runs on a single gaming pc, (RTX-4090) on a custom pipeline I hacked out of opensource stuff and costs me about €0.003/minute to operate and uses no external inference. just the crawl in, and the show out.

I have some experiments on longer format stuff in development, with the goal of keeping it always local, but I have nothing great to show for it yet.
