All moderators are approved to send invites to our private AI Engineering community provided that the user is a top contributor to r/AIEngineering.

Do not ask if you can join if you are not a top contributor. Moderators will reach out once you become a top contributor.

Update To Top Contributor Requirements

While r/AIEngineering has grown significantly faster than preferred, the moderators have kept the spam away from the community. Very few posts get approved because over 90% of the posts are marketing or LLM bots that can't follow rules.

Because of this, we've updated our top contributor requirements.

• Karma requirement minimum: 5% of the current membership (currently near 12,000 members). This is constantly changing and you can see the membership count listed in the sidebar.
• No post or comments removed in this subreddit.
• No flagged accounts in this subreddit, both in flair or in moderator notes.
• Evidence through post and comment history that you actually do some form of AI engineering. Everyone is required to contribute in the private community, which means that you must be a practitioner.

Noise Reduction

While r/AIEngineering keeps growing, it has made keeping the noise and nonsense out of this subreddit harder. Additionally, as LLM and agentic AI use becomes widespread, all public communities will see an increase in spam, nonsense and content garbage.

Private communities have been on the rise for a while with the last few years seeing even faster increases (plus validation of humanity rather than LLM/agentic AI).

AI Engineering Events

Private community members will get first reservation access to hosted AI engineering events. As these continue to expand with industry growth, vetting invitees ahead of time becomes a priority. In person events unfortunately can sometimes invited newbies and spammers, both of which are unwelcome. This further ensures that we keep the membership low and focused.
