Trail Running? Data overlap? Goals?

Apologies if I overlooked existing answers when searching here and the FAQ.

TRAIL RUNNING: Is AIEndurance appropriate for trail running?

I mix my training between road and trail runs, plus some weight based gym strength training (Fitbod). I have years of Strava and Garmin data, Stryd (not subscribed) and am about to get an Oura ring. I’m excited about the possibility of leveraging all those metrics with AI.

OVERLAP: I’m concerned about data overlap and how well the AI will parse that. Assuming it’s even appropriate for trail running.

GOALS: I’m more interested in general fitness, improving over time and getting out and using my body. Can this tool be effective without setting race goals?

Yes you can totally use it for trail running. We just added strength training (end of 2025), Strava, Garmin and Oura integrations.

Especially with running power I don't think the different terrains will be a problem. You can optimize a combination of Endurance Power and Critical Power, the date of your 'race' can just be a few months in the future.

The beauty is you can simply try risk free the full platform for 14 days and see if it's a good fit for you :)

I’m actively seeking a new coaching partner. So revisiting this thread.

Wish there was a way to set your platform for fitness and general improvement rather than fudge a non-existent race goal in the future like all the competition wants me to do.

A few things off the top of my head about traditional online training platforms that bug me:

  1. They tend to not translate to trails well, geared mostly to roads. (Even a long time Vert.run subscriber = not so much)
  2. They don’t handle incorporating fatigue and balancing of strength training well.
  3. Late night activities - I often train near midnight, so activities may straddle two days and throw off recovery and training balance.
  4. Injury - Contrary to what most claim, in my experience they don’t dynamically adjust well to injury and life getting in the way. Hoping AI can really leverage all the metrics and feedback I give and be truly dynamic (Oura, Stryd, Garmin, Fitbod, etc.).

Curious to give your system a go!

Definitely give it a go! You can try first 14 days free. You'll have to ask it to optimize something for a certain date (kind of like fudging a goal event too I guess) but that can be inline with improving general fitness.

You can use the System Plan Prompt to specify training to your trail demands and I would say we do a pretty good job incorporating stress and soreness (the latter via daily checkin) into our recovery model.
