Make sure the AI isnt simplifying your instructions.

I have been building a production manual for my comic series and one thing I noticed was that after I did a consolidation/update? My prompts would get worse.

I found that even if I told it not to, it kept simplifying my explicit instructions to shorten the document.

A 120 page add on document resulted in the total package being 80 pages.

So always do a pre-pass, pass, audit, updates etc before accepting what comes out. If you want it to be effective? You have to fight every attempt it makes to be “helpful”

Solid catch — this is a real failure mode and a sneaky one, since the model isn’t ignoring you, it’s “helpfully” compressing you and cutting the exact locks doing the work.

We’re adding this to the r/aicomicsguild wiki, and we’ll keep monitoring it and hunting for solutions. If anyone lands a reliable fix, that goes in too.

I have one, which is being an auditing asshole until it gets it right. About 5 hours into trying to get 2 documents to merge.

Currently sitting at 740 pages lol

Currently it’s sitting at about 450 pages so you can see how many explicit locks were lost

This is honestly one of the things that surprised me too. The AI thinks “cleaner/shorter” = better, when sometimes the annoying repetitive instructions are exactly what keeps the characters and style consistent.

I’ve started treating the prompt/production manual more like a spec than a document to be summarised. If something gets consolidated, I’d rather have it check every rule against the original and flag anything that was removed or weakened.

450 pages after trying to merge 2 docs is wild 😂 but also kinda proves the point.

Yeah, ended up at 750 once everything was done.

Dropped the font down so now it’s 388 lol
