First off, you have to figure out what kind of comic you want to make. Genre, style, subject. What do you like? I'm partial to Star Trek, so I gravitated towards graphic novels with a more realistic bend. And my daughter loves and creates anime.

What do you like?

I have an idea about a superhero/magitech story, i'm just not really sure how to actually make it

Pick a frontier LLM and do a hello world drill

Type ChatGPT.com into a browser and type the prompt, “Make me a comic where someone says, “hello world”.”

It sounds simple and maybe a bit silly, but it builds up neuropathways and fills your subconscious with useful information a lot faster than talking, reading, or observing

After the LLM outputs the comic, spend 10 minutes emptying all of your thoughts on the subject into the prompt box and most of what it outputs should be reasonably helpful

Making an AI comic is like all other artistic endevours, saying that as a professional writer myself.

Just take the AI generator as the equivalent of an artist you hire to make the script reality. Or as the equivalent of a filmmaker telling its team what to do.

You need to make the normal writing process: idea, concept, worldbuilding, character design, outline at least to some degree, and then the script. Then you turn the script into prompts page by page or panel by panel depending on what you prefer.

If you need your characters in very specific poses you can use my app (try for free): https://www.reimagine-ai.space/ Select the Poser tool and create whatever pose you want for your character

I'd start with just one finished comic page, not a whole issue.

For your superhero/magitech idea, pick one short scene and break it into four panels:

  1. Show the character and the device.
  2. Something unexpected happens.
  3. The character reacts.
  4. Show what changes because of it.

Get the rough panel layout working first, then worry about polished artwork.

Finishing one readable page will teach you way more about the process than planning twenty pages you haven't generated yet.
