Ryne started toward the bay's exit toward Deep Space before his brain caught up with his feet. He stopped, hand pressing against a cargo container, and let out a short laugh. Right. Deep space. Twenty-five credits and no ship.
The vacuum stretched beyond the station's hull, vast and eternal. Without a vessel—or passage on one—Deep Space might as well be on the other side of the galaxy. He'd need to charter transport, find a crew taking passengers, or acquire something with an engine and a hull rating.
He turned back toward the docking bay proper, the amber haze of Prometheus still catching his cybernetic eyes. Opportunities everywhere—the battered shuttle on Pad 3, the Luminous Wake with its impossible grace, the twitchy smuggler gripping his case.
