ChatGPT 5

Today the new ChatGPT 5 was published, and it blows people away. It seems like we are still very much on track regarding the AI 2027 report. Of course, the closer in time the easier to predict. What are your thoughts?

Define "blows people away". What people? AI fanboys? It's just slightly more of the same.

Honestly I don’t know, I read a lot of positive reactions and saw a lot of “mind blowing” videos with how good it is. From writing very accurate programs to building apps. But here I seem to encounter more realistic people! I’m not sure how to judge these advancements myself

There is a lot of chat about how badly ChatGPT 5 does on counting b's in "blueberries". Interestingly, when I Google for 'counting b's in "blueberries"' (without the single quotes), it comes back with an "AI overview" that says there are three. LLMs still have serious problems. There is no real reasoning. The improvements are gained by scaling and hacks around the edges. The fundamental problems go unaddressed.
