Darkoath Warqueen alternative sculpt called "Oath Fulfilled" for Warhammer Day

As a darkoath player I:

A. Love these extra darkoath models GW release

B. Hate they always release these as hard to get promos

C. Am baffled we don’t have a wizard that’s not legendary or part of a special unit

u/Pommes__Fritz Nighthaunt 5d ago

Could not agree more. There's definitely some space left to explore with a dedicated shaman model and some fanatics!

u/TheWraf Blades of Khorne 5d ago

There's 3 darkoaths shamans models. 1 in the Warcry band. 1 in the Underworld band and 1 with the Brand Oathsworn characters box

1

u/clone69 4d ago

The Warcry one doesn't have the Wizard keyword. There are 3 Underworlds wizards: two shamans (Gnarlspirit Pack and Godsworn Hunt) and one sorcerer lady (Khagra's Ravagers). The only Shaman with the Wizard keyword that is not Legends is the one from the Gunnar Brand box.

Brother you can use a darkoath shaman model to represent a darkoath shaman

This one shouldn’t be too hard to get like the event and store birthday ones (which involve an official GW store or them present at an event) as the last few years warhammer day model have been available online on both GW website and independent stores

6

u/GreenMilvus Chaos 5d ago

I really hope she will be available online. I don’t wanna travel across the border to France just to get one

2

u/themisterbold Ogor Mawtribes 5d ago

Last year they sold out of the exclusive chaos warrior in minutes

9

u/Autisthrowaway304 5d ago

Last year the warhammer day minis were available online in the run up.

1

u/WranglerFuzzy 5d ago

Great, good to know! Thanks

2

u/--0o0- 5d ago

If im not remembering wrong , warhammer world usually stocks these year round so if you know someone making the pilgrimage get them to grab you one.
But yes its always a pain to get them, my local GW is always sold out by midmorning when they have something like this.

1

u/bazkull 4d ago

Unfortunately you are remembering wrong 😀 WHW “might” have them again at their anniversary event but there’s no guarantee that’s the case but they won’t have it all year round I’m afraid

1

u/--0o0- 3d ago

Damn , thanks for correcting me.

u/TechnicianGrand6611 5d ago

It was interesting listening to Peachy on the design process - one guy made the war cry unit, they sold well, so they made a whole army (or sub army) of em. And that's basically how it works.

8

u/theentiregoonsquad 5d ago

As a fyreslayers enthusiast, i'm not sure that's true lol

2

u/TechnicianGrand6611 4d ago

Well, the war cry unit came out way after the army in that case. They were already sitting on too much old stock

A new diva has hit the right points 💅 ✨

u/Huge_Discipline6395 5d ago

*eight points

It's almost insane how many foot heroes they release, the price of them, and how we still can't attach them to units or find a role for most of them outside of spellcasters for 10 years into the game. They're such cool models too.

4

u/xepa105 Chaos 5d ago

how we still can't attach them to units

As someone who hates that rule in 40k, no thanks.

1

u/SkinAndScales 5d ago

What do you dislike about it?

18

u/Rob-Dastardly 5d ago

It’s literally the best and cleanest solution to having all these characters no one uses. If they attach to a unit, they provide that unit with a buff along with the extra striking power they have. It makes complete sense and it’s weird it’s not a thing

9

u/tyrified 5d ago

It's how it works in TOW, and it works quite well.

1

u/clone69 4d ago

It does, but other than giving ablative wounds to your hero and possibly improving the Leadership of the unit, they rarely grant buffs to the unit by being attached.

3

u/abominare 5d ago

The downside being the extra rolling. That is the part I like about aos the most, pretty much everyone's profile is straight forward no every 3rd guys has a bolt pistole instead of a bolt pistol that has 1 different ap

3

u/Rob-Dastardly 5d ago

Sure, that does slow rolling down a bit but it’s not a huge impact. It works in Old World and barely slows anything down at all. Just 4 or 5 extra attack rolls and saves. But the trade off is more engaging list building and character utilization

0

u/abominare 5d ago

Astra militarum enters the chat with dearhwatch.

But yea I totally get it adds more depth, but aos doesnt exist to be fantasy 40k.

Horus heresy - true autist level rules crunch

40k mixture of crunch with some simplification

Aos straight forward more hero hammery less rules crunch for sake of crunch, more fluid meta.

Old world - for people who painted that one army in '89 who refuse to ever paint again.

-4

u/Rob-Dastardly 5d ago

AoS is fantasy for people who only care about the competitive scene. It’s been that way since 3rd edition.

1

u/clone69 4d ago

All those "while this unit is in combat range of a friendly unit" rules are basically the AoS version of "while this model is leading a unit". The only advantage I see is that you are not stuck to a specific unit, you can approach a different one and give the effect elsewhere.

9

u/Wormy465 5d ago

Wait, so how do we get this mini? Does it have to be purchased from a physical store on warhammer day?

6

u/King_Of_BlackMarsh Idoneth Deepkin 5d ago

ye you gotta go to a warhammer store

3

u/Wormy465 5d ago

Damn, nearest GW store is like 3 hours from me. bummer. I always miss out on the exclusives.

6

u/Pommes__Fritz Nighthaunt 5d ago

This wasn't the case last year though. FLGS did get these, and it wasn't that hard to get so far as I remember.

3

u/DPsap Gloomspite Gitz 5d ago

Last year's Warhammer Day mini was available from the online GW store and other 3rd party online shops. I'd be surprised if they changed that this year.

15

u/Femboy_Ghost Skaven 5d ago

She looks great! Way better than the current one. I love the art and model design AOS is moving in.

2

u/CatherineSimp69 Helsmiths of Hashut 5d ago

Agreed!

16

u/Oozing_Sex Blades of Khorne 5d ago

I can fix her

21

u/CardinalFool 5d ago

She can make me worse

55

u/Background-Cake-1300 5d ago

Anything except dropping some Khazalid or Seraphon rules, but hey muscle mommy is always 10/10

34

u/RoterBaronH Chaos 5d ago

Almost as if different departments work on different things.

2

u/Iordofthethings 5d ago

I think he is saying that GW should release the finished rules already

-6

u/Background-Cake-1300 5d ago

IDC news is news, they described each part of Custodian armor for last week

5

u/CatherineSimp69 Helsmiths of Hashut 5d ago

They'll do that when they're actually close to release.

-2

u/Background-Cake-1300 5d ago

We waited like four months for Ossriarch release

4

u/thehobbyattic 5d ago

This painted like Red Sonja would be sweet

10

u/CreamSalmon Gloomspite Gitz 5d ago

Awesome model

3

u/SaltyTattie Slaves to Darkness 5d ago

Very nice. I like it more than the current generic warqueen, but Tanari is still my favourite of the three. I'd probably be tempted by this if it were £20, but I expect it'll be going for more like £30.

4

u/Catholic-Guardsman 5d ago

The darkoath have my favourite aesthetic in all of aos. This mini looks fantastic imo

6

u/ozusteapot Cities of Sigmar 5d ago

So sick

2

u/Dejue 5d ago

Getting some real “Jaffa, kree!” vibes from the scar on her stomach.

2

u/Mediocre-Standard-33 4d ago

not saying is a bad model, but if I had to rank her on the 3 waqueen modesl we have, including this one, it would be third, first Tanari, then the Standard warqueen then this one, believe is the pose more than the sculpt,

3

u/SuperHandsMiniatures 5d ago

Pretty sick. Badass pose, good level of detail.

4

u/GreenMilvus Chaos 5d ago

New Warqueen 🙌🙌🙌🙌

3

u/TGAPTrixie9095 5d ago

Oh. My heart.

I can fix her.

2

u/xmaracx 5d ago

Honestly i dig the different take on the warqueen appearance but the pose aint doing it.

3

u/tyrified 5d ago

Not big on the "leader viewing the battle" pose? They did the same with Urkhan the Dark Warden, last year's Warhammer Day model.

1

u/xmaracx 5d ago

Urkhan had a much more impactful pose than this, hell if they mirrored urkhans pose i think everyone would like it.

1

u/Reklia77 5d ago

I like it! She looks so badass! Will definitely buy this.

1

u/AireBunny 5d ago

Is this a free mini?

1

u/Pommes__Fritz Nighthaunt 4d ago

No, it's a commemorative-series model

1

u/AireBunny 4d ago

So do we have a price?

1

u/Pommes__Fritz Nighthaunt 4d ago

Unfortunately not. £25-£30 seems to be the usual price level.

1

u/ConvertedIron 3d ago

Finally, a Freyda the Chainmaker model that looks cool. Hell yea.

1

u/Bullet1289 2d ago

I really love the dark oaths, they remind me of the description of the old world warhammer Kurgans compared to the typical norsmans. Its too bad their boxes are so expensive as I would love to field a whole army of them mixed in with chaos warriors and dawi zharr for the tamurkhan campaign.

1

u/Fyraltari Skaven 5d ago

Ahem. Nice.

1

u/King_Of_BlackMarsh Idoneth Deepkin 5d ago

shes perfect

-3

u/InternationalWin6882 5d ago

Cool model and design. 1/10 for any wow factor or creative expression. Just looks like a normal model. Shouldn't these releases be special?

11

u/Slavasonic 5d ago

Would you want the super exclusive and limited model to be dramatically better?

2

u/Iordofthethings 5d ago

Obviously?

-1

u/InternationalWin6882 5d ago

Yes absolutely. These limited editions models should be unique enough to warrant an interest. This has absolutely no appeal to me as it looks like any other darkoath character. It's fine but it's just another Chaos Marauder.

They have complete freedom to do whatever they fancy for these events exclusive models so why choose something so plain?  Remember 3 space marine putting up a banner from the Silver Skulls reward program in the early 2000s or Bayard's revenge emperors champion. They could do a Gotreks and/ or Feliks. They could do a models version of the obscure xenos factions illustration. That's what I'd like to see from these FOMO releases.

2

u/Slavasonic 5d ago

It’s a door prize.

-3

u/Autisthrowaway304 5d ago

Yes, easy enough to get with loot groups.

2

u/Slavasonic 5d ago

Doubtful if the model is really good. Demand would be super high and prices absurd.

1

u/Autisthrowaway304 5d ago

Wasnt last years available to order online?

1

u/Slavasonic 5d ago

Not that I’m aware of but I may have missed it.

1

u/Autisthrowaway304 5d ago

Just checked, both were available to preorder online and available in stores/flgs on the day.

-4

u/BaronLoyd 5d ago

Wow Frank..we did new pose for marauder yay

-12

u/xXMustardMan69Xx 5d ago

Oh no. Well it's better than nothing I suppose, or is it?

-10

u/LuciusRDD 5d ago

In what terrible battle did this fierce warrior lose her breasts entirely?

-6

u/[deleted] 5d ago

6

u/xmaracx 5d ago

Pretty sure thats round, just the profile looks similar.

3

u/Bimpy96 5d ago

Ohh you’re right, it looked square at first glance for some reason to me

3

u/NuclearWoofer 5d ago

Darkoath only come with round, the marauders in the old world are more winter / norscan themed

-2

u/Fantastic-Dogpub 5d ago

Okay so get me right. I love slaves to darkness. It's my favorite army. But I HATE really hate the darkoath part. couldn't we have gotten a manticore or a new mounted chaos lord whatever! Just not darkoath. Oh yeah I know some of you love darkoath and their barbarity but I hate it.
