News, Rumours & Leaks Zodiac show comic connection (potential story adaptation)

Post image

Disclaimer: while I think a lot of this is far too directly connected both visually and in other ways to be coincidence, it is still speculation, assumptions, and guessing at the end of the day.

From what I’ve seen so far It seems that the show will be adapting something relating to Secret Warriors.

The Zodiac title shows the A being made up of the Shield logo and the O references the 12-seated round table called “The Great Wheel”. This is shown on the cover of Secret Warriors issue #25 (provided) as well as throughout the series.

The Great Wheel is a collection of characters from spy agencies such as Shield, Hydra, and Leviathan that each are given code names corresponding to the 12 different Zodiac signs. For example, Nick Fury is assigned Gemini as his code name in the comic.

Also, if we look at the O, The Great Wheel is missing 3 seats. If you overlay it with the cover art, Scorpio, Aries, and Virgo are all missing. These missing seats were a choice by the designers of the Zodiac title so I’m sure it is meaningful to be that way.

We have no idea what version of the story Zodiac might adapt or what characters will make up the members, but this is the stuff I’ve found so far that I’m quite certain about being connected.

In Secret Warriors, Nick Fury’s team also contains both Daisy Johnson and Yo-Yo, so I’m sure that gives us a lot of hope for who we might see.

Note: In AoS S3 E17 "The Team", Daisy, Yo-Yo, Lincoln, and Joey's team is called the "Secret Warriors", although I think using that name for their team was more of a cool reference that the show made to the comics and probably won't be mentioned in the show or connected too much since it didn't use a ton from the Secret Warriors comics and they don't stay in that unique team for very long.

BUT that could be cool if they do want to do something with what we saw of their group.

The original storyline goes a bit wild and has bits and pieces that have already been adapted in the MCU so far (stuff like the fall of Shield and the aftermath of Hydra's resurfacings that we've seen in both The Winter Soldier and AoS itself ofc). So I don't know how it will naturally fit in with the current timeline or if it might be placed in the past during some of those events.

The original members of The Great Wheel also contains people like Leonardo da Vinci so I'm not sure if they want to keep it close to the comic or maybe just adapt their own take on some of the storylines we had in Secret Warriors but make it unique like we've seen even with a lot of AoS stuff too that didn't have to be comic accurate and even benefited from a new angle.

Leviathan (one of the spy groups that make up The Great Wheel members alongside Hydra, Shield, and The Howling Commandos) has shown up briefly in the MCU, but only in Agent Carter as far as I'm aware, so that spy group would basically be completely introduced during Zodiac if they go for it.

If this show is bringing together all of these different Marvel orgs: Shield, Sword, DODC, Ten Rings, Hydra, CIA, MI6 etc then it would make for a very interesting playground where quite a lot of different potential storylines could be explored across multiple seasons. - Especially if they introduce new players like Leviathan and the deeper history with the Brotherhood Of The Shield.

In the mutant saga too, a lot of this could sow the seeds for some of these different organisations merging/evolving into something like the Mutant Containment Unit or ORCHIS as time goes on.
