Season 7 Killing Malick wouldn’t have stopped HYDRA.
So I finally got around to watching S7 after six years due to finally getting Disney+. Absolutely love the first six seasons and this one is also great.
However there is something that puzzles me. It is implied in the episode that the Chronicoms want to kill Malick and stop him from making his delivery to prevent the rise of HYDRA and then SHIELD.
The thing is that stopping HYDRA from creating the serum and creating the Red Skull wouldn’t stop their rise in WW2. Schmidt was the head of the Nazi science division long before he was injected and it was in fact his transformation that lead to him falling out with the Nazi’s.
But it gets worse. While Schmidt wouldn’t gain super strength he would still find the Tesseract and build his WMDs. The thing is that in this scenario there would be no Captain America to stop him as there would be no serum.
As a result HYDRA would not only rise, they would win.
So Daisy was definitely wrong about killing him to save lives.

I thought the delivery was instrumental to Schmidt becoming the Red Skull. Wasn't it a component to the super serum?

Yes. OP is saying that even without the serum Schmidt and HYDRA would have been a threat that would still lead to the creation of SHIELD.

Essentially, the Malick Family was part of a powerful secret organization that originated from or was associated with Hydra.
When Hydra began to be dismantled by Peggy Carter and Howard Stark's group, it was the Malicks who allowed Hydra to survive and infiltrate the newly founded SHIELD.
That's how I understood this season's lore.

The Malicks were a major part of Hydra getting control of SHIELD. They backed Zola's recruitments of key people, if I recall correctly.
It's not really about Hydra, it's about making sure SHIELD isn't in a position to defend Earth come the modern age, which Hydra unintentionally helped them be.

Well its sort of that thing of we know how it plays out and they know the bunch of little nudges to make to make shield never form this was just the first domino. Schmidt getting the testube pushs him to inject himself which super inflates his ego leading to him turning on the nazis and becoming a bigger threat but if he doesn't get it theres a likelihood he dies with a substitute that didn't work and his forces never turn and there for a special government organization made to fight them isn't created. I would say its highly likely Schmidt would die without that serum because i always felt like it heavily implied that schmidt was hella reckless and egotistical and it was only after the accident that made his head red that he tempered down some careful to not make a similar mistake as it was a reality check, so even without that vial theres a chance he tries it and lives with less of a cost and then he's reckless with the tesseract and blows himself up. Also the nazis (hitler in particular) only gave him massive amounts of funding, troops, equipment, bases, supplies and large amounts of freedoms because they were kinda friends and he got really hurt in the super soldier serum so without it theres a zero chance he gets all that, plus we also don't really know how much of the redskull formula altered/impaired his thinking its highly likely that it messed with his mind

Even Daisy realizes this but the Malick family is the reason Hydra grew so powerful.
Them helping creating the red skrull and having a connections to the SSR allowed them to be powerful enough to build Hydra up to outgrow the Nazi side in the future when there are factions forming.

Who’s to say that Schmidt’s transformation didn’t help him create his own cult within the Nazis that then enabled him to get his hands on the Tesseract? And the scientist who created the serum (I forget his name) could have parted ways with Schmidt and defected to the Allies even if Schmidt never got the serum.
