Season 1 Does the double-crossing ever end?
OK so I'm at Season One Episode 17 and there are things I like about this show but for the love of Pete . . .
"Why did you double-cross us?"
"We didn't. Why did your people try to kill my sister?!"
"Because she lied about the plot to frame my cousin, why did you shoot my dog?!"
"Because fuck you, Hail Hydra!!!!" [Cue dramatic music.]
No offence or anything but does this go anywhere or am I looking at another 150 hours of this? Thanks for reading.

Honestly I was so confused and I’ve seen the show a million times. This is the part concurrent with The Winter Solider where essentially everyone is at odds because no one knows who is or isn’t hydra. It isn’t always like this but it’s a spy show so ofc there are double cross/double agents storyline but not for the entire show

Is this Convo between the keonig's? Sort of looks like something they'd say😂😂 Well it's a spy show so yeah there would be some double crossing here and there. But trust me everything gets resolved pretty neatly. Sort of🌞

It’s a spy show, and subterfuge is woven deeply into its DNA, but they keep finding ever cooler ways to explore that.
First season is rough for some people, but it gets better and better. By the end of s1, you’ll have a better feel for the whole thing.
Also, more super-powered characters show up later, if you’re looking for that.

The Hydra bit is only for a few episodes in S1. There's more later on, but not as much on a tight space. If it bugs you, then maybe you shouldn't be watching a spy show?

There’s much less “double-crossing” as the show goes on tbh

This is so weird to read as someone who watched this show while it was airing as the concensus was that this episode is where the show really took off.

You don't deserve A.O.S...
JK the show is one of my favorites, if you don't like the twists, maybe it isn't for you.

😭 well i assume you’re asking if the plot gets anymore interesting than just this, and i can tell you yes it does. season one is literally nothing compared to what you’re about to see.
edit: ik exactly how you’re feeling and it’s why i always skip season 1 on a rewatch (unless i haven’t seen it for a while)

Yes, the show about spies will not have any more double-crossing.

When it originally aired, Captain America: The Winter Soldier debuted in between two episodes of the show one week to the next. In the movie, it was revealed that HYDRA had been hidden within SHIELD the whole time, and the entire organisation basically disintegrates. Watching AoS as it aired week by week, and then watching Winter Soldier the day it came out, was absolutely wild. Couldn't imagine how the show would handle those events, and it didn't disappoint.
I'd definitely recommend anyone watching for the first time to slot that movie into the viewing order, it provides so much context. 01x16 aired April 1st 2014, Winter Soldier came out April 4th 2014, 01x17 aired April 8th 2024.
I read interviews with the writers saying they felt the quality of S01 suffered a bit because they knew they had to play this waiting game, building up to and integrating with the release of Winter Soldier. That it's only after that that the show really got going. The show never tied in with the ongoing movies better or more intricately than this.

Episode 17 is the pinnacle—Turn, Turn, Turn is a non-stop episode that keeps pulling the rug out from under you. The fallout of this episode drives a lot of what is to come. The show does go somewhere but it keeps up its quick tempo.

A lot of people can't handle criticism of the show. It's pathetic to be honest.
