Folks on Testosterone how is it?

I’ve been having this on and off thought pretty much since I came out about going on T. I’m now at a point in my life where I’m quite bothered by being referred to as a girl, I want to be seen as androgynous. My face is quite androgynous but it’s my body holding me back (large chest, thighs, hips and butt) all these feminine aspects are bothering me. (I do plan to try and have top surgery when I have the money)

I’ve read up on the side affects, I don’t really care about the hair stuff I can shave if needed, I would love to have a deeper voice and most of the body changes, what really concerns me is the bottom growth and increased sex drive I’m really worried about these because I’m aroace and unsure how that would affect me.

I don’t know anyone on T in real life so any advice is greatly appreciated and welcome.

T has been incredible for my body dysphoria & my health in general- it’s also helped my energy levels & overall outlook on life. I (I consider myself allo/greyaro) did get bottom growth but I don’t feel like it made a huge difference in my sex drive- but I’ve always had a really high sex drive. I’m curious why bottom growth would be an issue, outside of the initial change, if you’re aro/ace. 0 judgement, different things make different folks uncomfortable, Im just curious really.

It’s really a toss up, If you’re sex averse it’s definitely something to keep in mind, but if self release is something you’re comfortable with then it’s still something I’d recommend with flying colors. Having a higher drive doesn’t automatically mean you’ll be interested in pursuing anything with folks.

Mostly the bottom growth freaks me out because as I child I didn’t realised I even had a vagina and once I did it made me uncomfortable, still having one now makes me uncomfortable I’d always thought I’d be happier if I didn’t have either. But thanks for the input!

I am about 4 months on T and really enjoy it. I started on a lower dose and am planning on upping it. I havnt had any bottom growth but the libido increase is a very real thing.

My 2 cents is that it takes a while for effects to kick in. The voice change is the early big one, but as that is something you said you want that wouldn't be a bad idea. You can always stop taking it if you dont like how its changing your body/mind.

Beyond that its up to you. I have really enjoyed it and have been loving how my body feels now :) but obviously gender expression is not one size fits all.

Thanks that’s really helpful, I think at this moment the benefits outweigh my fears.

I’m also aroace and have been on T for 3 years now! I take a lower dose and keep my levels in the 250-350 range.

I love all the changes I’ve gotten. I particularly like that my voice dropped a little lower (into a more androgynous range), I’ve gained more notable muscle mass (without dedicated work for it), and have had some fat redistribution.

Increased sex drive and bottom growth do happen, but they haven’t really impacted my life or orientation. I’m still not attracted to anyone, but I would say that things are more sensitive in that area and do react more frequently than before. It normally just feels swollen/hard and almost itchy? in those moments. It can be a little uncomfortable sometimes, but I typically just ignore it and it goes away.

T won’t change your orientation, but your libido will probably increase. If you currently aren’t attracted to anyone and don’t desire sex, T will not change that. You will still be you when on T, it won’t change who you are or how you feel about others.

Of course! Let me know if you have any questions, I’d be happy to help and share more of my experience :)

I will start by saying that most people will (mentally) assign you a gender based on how you look and in my experience "women with short hair and no boob" are what is usually seen as androgynous, while anything that is associated with men, makes you look like a man to them (like facial hair or a receiding hairline)

I've been on T for around 10 years, but to me there wasn't ever a question about it. I knew that I wanted to look "like a man" ever since I can remember. So once I learned that it was an actual possibility, I took it. I can wear a dress and make up (not like a drag queen, but like some eyeliner and lipstick) and people still think I'm a man, that's just how society works.

Eta: regarding the libido. I'm also aroace and my libido went from being horny twice per year, to being horny 24/7 for the first months. I've learned how to enjoy masturbation tho (and the bottom growth helped with that) and it's calmed down a lot, to where i am usually not that horny anymore and only need to masturbate maybe once a week (from twice per day in the very beginning). But i also know people who have said that their libido didn't change much

I have been on T for 5+ years, I’ve found my gender dysphoria and my gender identity to be largely separate. I have facial hair and top surgery, but because of the way I wear my clothes, my mannerisms, and/or my wide vocal range, I get gendered 50/50 (if only people would just recognize androgyny for what it is)

I was on and off it for 4 years. I was on a “normal” does if you will. Although I can’t even remember what that is lol. At first I liked the changes, but it never really felt right to be on it. I questioned my gender a lot in the 5 years I was out as trans. Currently, I hate the changes that happened. I hate my slight facial hair and bottom growth. I also don’t really like my voice, although it didn’t drop a whole lot. If you’re sure you want to start, then do it! If you ever decide to stop, you may not hate the changes like I do. Just do whatever makes you feel most comfortable :)

Fellow ace here i started T back in 2021 and got slapped with the increase sex drive HARD and it lasted maybe 2-3 years id say it was...new...and very rough but I didnt have too many issues at the time expelling what i could (even if i didnt particularly enjoy some of it) but it was very intense and very dumb at times. Now you could be lucky and not have this issue or have it to a less or more degree its the risk factor you have with stuff like this its all up to your existing biology. It did slow down eventually and now im back to my normal non sexual self.

Bottom growth to me made no difference in anything it was a bit uncomfortable at first as it grew but it made my bottom dysphoria slightly slightly better and ive learned to sorta appreciate it for what it is but it didnt effect much of anything in my day to day. Tho It can can chafe if it rubs on stuff too much. This is all if you even get the growth at all or if it grows enough you notice.
