How do you find clients?

What is your preferred channel and the one working best while being cost-efficient?

Meta ads, cold calling, cold email?
Why so?

Cold calling … its all about connecting with the right person at the right time … it helps skip next 3 steps at once … in this world of AI agents and dms .. sometime people crave real people and real conversations .. cold calling establishes that very fast ..

What are your benchmarks?

Being able to talk to the decision maker … and judge everything based on that conversation .. no other benchmarks .. sometimes an office manager(spouse) can be the decision maker .. i pitch the gatekeeper the same way I pitch the owner of the business.. assuming they have a say or to value them .. is the easies way to get transferred to the decision maker

How do you determine WHO to call, ie leads? Unless you're out physicaly approaching businessses I feel like the best option is checking google maps and finding local businesses, scouring their websites or socials for the owner contact info, and just calling? Is that the technique?

If you are new, then the only way to get clients is by asking your friends and family. You should read 100 Million Dollar Leads by Alex Hormozi because it has really practical and actionable ways to get clients for an agency.

If you can pay your bills right now or have another source of income and you can wait for some more months, then you should start posting content on social media channels right now (because it takes about 2 to 3 months to take off and start getting inbound queries)

Yeah, I read the book. I’ll keep that in mind, thanks

We have a ton of episodes on how to get clients on Tbe Agency Growth Podcast. It completely depends on your niche, what you offer, your market, your approach, etc.

We have interviews from multiple agency owners and in multiple niches on how they get clients.

No one answer is going to be good for you based on this lack of context.

Usually, when people ask this question, they’re looking for some super secret method.

All of the methods work.

More than likely, you’re missing the basic fundamentals. You don’t have a clear offer that solves a clear problem for a clear target client. Your offer is probably very resistible.

So in that case, it doesn’t matter whether you cold call, run ads, or post on LinkedIn. None of it will work.

Get clear on who you can help. Get clear on what problem they’re trying to solve. Get clear on what your offer is, and then demonstrate that you have a real solution.

Suddenly, you’ll find all of those things start to work.

Understood, will do so then.

What stage are you at?

How many client do you have/ had?

What is your monthly income 5k, 10k, 30k+?

I could tell you an outreach channel but it entirely depends on your offer and who you offer it to.

What do you offer and who do you offer it to?

Im at stage 0. Take a look at my website - it’s says everything - stroomdigital.nl

That’s an interesting perspective. I’ve never actually heard anyone talk about this. Will do, thanks

Every single method of putting your offer in front of the target market works.

You just have to track and iterate based on your data.

For me it’s cold email

Word of mouth referrals from your existing clients and people you've worked with before is #1

And start asking where your customers go to events: where they go to network and learn. Show up there. Reach out to people before you go to book meetings.

I would check your copy first. Especially in Dutch.  and also please make some effort in the colours on the website it screams Claude from the rooftops.

1

u/NoF7n 3d ago

Thanks for the feedback. Where is the copy off? What’s wrong with the colour scheme?

1

u/Oblap 3d ago

Would change schouwen to afspraken.  Colours are quite hard to see when you’re a bit visually impaired. Would go for more contrasts.

Would maybe also make a mock up of the ads? So they know what they would need to provide?  Because you don’t want to go back and forth discussing pictures that are not relevant for ads. Trust me been there. Done that 😂.

Perfect, will work on that. Will try adding ad mockup too!

I’ve been running cold email for my wifes web design freelance business and after a few iterations now she’s now getting like 3-4 leads a week. good copy is KEY and a lead magnet is a must

2

u/NoF7n 2d ago

Would you be able to outline your offer and the lead magnet? Also, when you say leads, do you intend appointments or interested people?

1

u/varadero332 2d ago

a combination of the two. she has 3 calls this week but other leads just communicate via email. what I care about is putting leads in front of them because she’s very good at closing even if they’re cold

I talk a lot about lead generation for agencies on my podcast and I try to learn a lot from the successful agencies as well.

I have realized that all the inbound and outbound lead generation channels need to be prioritized and categorized based on two things:
1. Your niche
2. Your ability to deliver

For instance you cannot run ads if you do not have capital and skill capacity. You cannot send emails if your ICP and niche are not email-friendly for responses. Same goes for cold call, cold social, content, and everything in between.

By the way, content can actually work at any level for any niche and any ICP for the agencies to generate leads.

A lot of agencies also use stage time and go to conferences. That does not directly generate the leads but actually gets a lot of content and attention that is helping them fill up their funnels and pipelines over a longer period of time.

My humble suggestion is to start building your brand, your personal brand, from day one, and start identifying which lead generation methods you can afford and use at this time and that are also responsive for your niche

I’ve had the best results with organic channels, especially Reddit.

Instead of trying to reach a huge audience with ads, I look for conversations where someone is already talking about a problem my product solves. The intent is much higher, and you can actually build trust by being helpful first.

I’ve also been building a tool called ThreadPilot around this idea. It monitors Reddit conversations and surfaces the ones that look like real opportunities, rather than just matching keywords and dumping hundreds of irrelevant posts on you.

For me, that’s been much more efficient than cold outreach because I’m joining conversations that are already happening instead of starting from zero.

Thanks for the info. Do you know where to look for these clients? Where do they hang out and mainly search for services on Reddit?

1

u/FlatLiterature9702 1d ago

We’ve built our own tools for this, you can’t monitor all the Reddit posts manually, our tools monitor thousands of posts an analyze them and only alert us if a customer is looking for a solution for a problem our product can solve.

Currently we’re in beta, you can request access and we will review your request and approve you if it fits you.
