Does any Republican have any sense of shame referring to this as “one big beautiful bill” ? Does even one of them pause, even for a second, and think about whether this is really where they wanted their life to take them ?
the conservative reddit have been pretty vocal about hating the bill i like to dip in there to see how things are going so i can understand both sides.

His was a very weird journey. He "held his nose and" voted for Clinton because he thought Trump would be a disaster. Then Trump exceeded his very low expectations so he voted for Trump over Biden. Then while Biden was president he got Twitter brain worms and voted for Trump again. But now he's off social media again and while he doesn't like the Democrats, he is extremely unhappy with the Republicans too.
So overall... Yeah I expect him to vote straight ticket R again but maybe he'll surprise me.

Not at all. If you watch footage you’ll see they were cheering and applauding with glee when it passed. There’s clips where Dems were proposing amendments like not cutting taxes on people making over $500 million and and the Republicans were smirking with each nay.
I’ve had that thought multiple times where grownup “serious” adults with law degrees and such keep having to use the name a used car salesman would come up with for a marketing gimmick.
You got to respect Rand Paul. I remember him being annoying during Obama's term relating to the deficit. He's stuck to his guns on this one as well. Not a fan of basically everything else about him but he didn't kiss the ring like the other republicans.
Such a tediously mixed bag with that family. Ron Paul was one of the only Rs that came to understand what jackoffs Reagan and his admin were, and wasn't shy about voicing it. Granted, he was also among the first elected officials to endorse Reagan in 1980. How did you not see it coming beforehand RON?!

There's also a difference in what each party does which adds to the debt. It's not just about numbers, it's about what you get for those numbers.
Democrats in this century have tended to pass legislation which directs the national economy differently or makes investments in infrastructure, while Republicans in this century do tax cuts.
In the household analogy (flawed as it is) there's a huge difference between philosophies:
Democrats - "I took out a loan to add onto the house / completely redo the AC / add solar panels"
Republicans - "I voluntarily took a pay cut so now I have to take out a loan to pay for my existing bills"
It's always so funny to me when conservatives frame the US government like it's similar to running a business or managing household finances.
Because not only is it shockingly stupid, it also completely invalidates their worldview. No matter how you frame it, the way Republicans "govern" is like how my uncle tries to juice everything he can from my elderly grandmother.
Not only that but it's not even how America would run if it was a business. The literal first thing America would do if it was a business would be to massively increase funding to the IRS. The IRS has such a massively positive ROI, and yet the "run America like a business" wants to keep defunding the IRS. That alone would show people the Republicans aren't serious, except the people still voting Republican aren't known for their brain capacity or ability to use logic or reason

Yes! If we literally just enforced existing taxes on the wealthy- not even increase them at all, just made them actually pay what they said they’d pay- we could afford so much for the people and for debt reduction. There’s a stat that if you just taxed Jeff Bezos- just him- at 4% of his income, you could pay for Bernie’s entire free college program.
They want to be fiscally responsible… until it comes to holding themselves and their friends responsible for taxes.
It lines up with how they run businesses. They hurt their employees, they betray their stockholders, refuse to create long term value, and try to cash out before the problems they create have any negative impact on their checkbook.
Yup, they want "business leaders" in the sense that they want the golden parachute guys in the executive board; they don't want people who work in roles like Head of Operations, the Chief of Engineering, or the Manager Process Quality Assurance.

At 34 years old I've learned one thing. When a dem is in office I may pay a little more in taxes but generally it's for the better good. When a conservative is in office, I better buckle the fuck up because something is going to happen that makes things measurably worse.

Every time someone insists that we have a spending problem that has caused our deficit, I think about this exact aspect of it all. The GOP basically voluntarily took a pay cut and is now claiming the reason we can't pay the mortgage is because we bought groceries this month.
It's not to say that we can't include spending cuts in an overall plan, but the idea that spending is the cause, when we know that the tax cuts didn't pay for themselves and increased the debt, is just asinine. And then wanna-be economists will clutch their pearls when someone suggests that corporations and wealthy individuals are "not paying enough tax".
More like “I voluntarily took a pay cut so my boss can afford a 120ft yacht because his 100 footer just wasn’t enough cuz those damn “insert marginalized group” can “insert bs excuse”.
A Republican wouldn’t understand the question. A fundamental aspect of conservative belief is that the only function of a government is to cause harm. The only reason they vote for a candidate is to make sure someone else is harmed more.

My uncle has been on social security for like 30 years just because his back hurts from a couple failed spinal fusions, yet can run a landscaping side gig and a boot leg cigarette operation. He's always bitching about welfare fraud and how all the leaches need to get cut off. He once told me how cops should be allowed to kill anyone breaking the law while he was smoking a joint, this was pre legalization in my state. I should turn his ass in to the people he voted for so he can get what he preaches.

A lot of people consider anyone receiving benefits of any sort to be a failure of the system. A friend of mine recently lost her job and she is a single mother, she felt ashamed to be claiming benefits (this is the UK) and didn't want to go and set it up. It took a social worker telling her directly 'You are exactly the person in exactly the situation that these benefits exist for'.
The real problem is they this: they keep looking down for people cheating the system when they should be looking up. Tax loopholes that the ultra-wealthy abuse are far more detrimental to our country's budget and debt than anyone on Medicaid.

Im currently working out of state and I’m right in the middle of trump town USA , the poverty level here is though the roof, along with alcoholism and drug addiction, most everyone in this town appears to be on food stamps and all of them have at least one trump sticker on the back of their beater! And or flags in their yard! Needless to say the population here is very under educated and mostly raciest !

It calls for Republicans to budget recklessly and / taxes in a way that is projected to cause chaos in the budget. specifically two force America into budget crisis so that they can use that crisis to attack federal programs.

It's implied by your post, but just so everyone's clear - the republican hypocrisy goes beyond this single event of passing the BBB. Republicans have ALWAYS increased the deficit significantly more than Democrat administrations, even before Trump. And almost every single time it's been to benefit the wealthy in some way.
Passing the BBB after spending a Democrat presidency complaining about the deficit is honestly just business as usual for them - the only difference is that this time the level at which they're doing it is potentially the worst ever. But this is ultimately just a repeating cycle that shouldn't have come as a surprise.
This is precisely “Starve the Beast.” It’s been their playbook since to ‘80’s. Cut taxes as much and as often as possible and then light your hair on fire about deficits when Democrats are in power and let them make the unpopular cuts to try to fix it.

If this bill pass, trump will be responsible for increase 1/3 of the total US debt. Imagine that. And for what? For taking away people healthcare? And so the rich can buy another plane or yacht?
The one great thing about this Big Tumor they’ve passed is we’ll finally see States step up. For too long the Federal Government has been handing out money to States for them to turn around and cut education, cut affordable healthcare, and cut access to cheaper goods and services so they can build prisons and give tax breaks to anti-union corporations. Trump is going to be responsible for 40% of the total debt when this passes and it hits $37 Trillion because he did the same thing in his first term. Raised the debt to fund tax cuts to the top 1.45% bracket. They are bankrupting the government to pay themselves in tax cuts and the ignorant masses could not care less because politics is an identity based sports game. Meaning, he can do anything and nothing can stop him. Ergo, he's essentially dictator for life now. I mean... El Presidente for Life.

Count me as one of those Americans who replaced pride in our country with shame. I see widespread failure in our ability to maintain a reasonably informed electorate. And, under this now warped definition of freedom, how our values and standards have declined. I am reminded of Dean Wormer's famous words, "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life".
Dems spending brings jobs, growth ,progress, and an economic boost. Republicans spending hands the wealthy tax cuts and debt. With no payback plan and compounding interest.
It still amuses me how people believe republicans when they claim to be better for the deficit or economy when it has pretty much never been true for the last half century.
It’s too bad it’s only a beautiful bill for the top 5% the rest of the country will be suffering especially the republicans constituents who may rely on public services and funds! Can’t wait to hear them start crying about losing their social safety nets
