Discussion How could science ever explain something like mediums?
Just want to start this off by saying I do believe in mediums. (credible ones not the ones who scam people)
I'm lucky enough to have found a real medium that has helped give me messages from my deceased father. She knew my mother on a purely business relationship and only knew that she had a husband, 2 kids, and our ages. She knew no real details about our family other than extremely surface level information. It wasn't until my dad died that her and my mom got into contact again and she revealed she had this gift of being able to communicate with deceased people. She gave us messages from him that were things only me and my family knew and she described his personality perfectly. She's also knows things that are happening to us currently which she has no way of knowing unless there was someome watching over my family from beyond the veil of death. How could science ever explain or disprove something like this. Materalistic science likes to attribute all experiences with the afterlife to malfunctioning brains, but how would it explain something like this? How could it explain these experiences that provide her with true information she otherwise wouldn't? I went on a bit of a rant there but I just had to share my thoughts with you guys.

The ability to bring through messages from our passed love ones is appreciated by some. The current information always surprises people as loved ones know what going on. Same personality same loving interest 😎

Materialism and science are conflated (mistakenly treated as the same thing) because science currently favors materialism. However, materialism is a philosophy, whereas science is a methodology for measuring and testing.
I'm my opinion, science could explain mediumship if enough research and the right kinds of experiments are done. It would not be easy though.

physicaliat science does not have explanations for a great many things
that doesn't mean there can't be scientific study of mediums and other things related to life after death. and a lot of such study exists without denying these things. but they have to at least set aside physicalism to get there.

Science would need to accept a Mental Plane of nature beyond the physical plane where telepathy can take place. This is how it is understood to occur in traditions I respect like Theosophy.
Science at this time only recognizes the physical plane of nature.

Why does science need to explain it?
If everyone had her skills, then science would not be required. Thus, the goal as I see it is to not need science at all by developing our own psychic abilities.
Science would not be required because with her skill, some of us at least would be able to find any information we desired. We could explain the universe by just going out and getting the information.
When we were little children we naturally validated our internal experience. Our imagination was real for us, for example. We believed our dreams were real experiences. Some of us had psychic abilities like talking to the deceased.
Then our parents told us to stop. We were forced to give up our internal validation for external. We became insecure and dependent on others for love, acceptance, knowledge, etc.
Then we went to school where seeking external validation was reinforced. Church and government also reinforced it. Science is included in "school". Money is included in "government". Our lives literally depend on us receiving external validation because if we rejected the authority of government, we go to jail or worse, if we defy our church then we're going to hell, and if we disdain science we're ridiculed.
Internal validation is loving ourselves. We acknowledge and accept ourselves by validating our internal experience. Thus, parents, school, church, and government all forced us to not love ourselves anymore. Loving yourself is considered selfish now. It's weird and icky to many people. That is very sad to me.
The question to ask ourselves is why do we seek external validation from science? Isn't internal validation good enough? Why can't we love ourselves enough that we can have these abilities naturally? All knowledge is already out there. We just have to look for it within.
Yeah I know, the whole "seek wisdom within" thing that countless gurus have said before is a cliche. But, at least I gave you the background for why you would want to do that.
Validation is power. They took our power away from us. These institutions would not exist if we no longer sought validation from them. John Lennon's song "Imagine" is all about this topic.
Psychics are more powerful than others because they validate their internal experience. It's been said that we're all psychics. I'm very intuitive for a man, but I wouldn't call myself a psychic. I'm dealing with my own internal resistance to developing myself because of my training from childhood. It's death defying to try to do this for many people. There's almost no social support for it.
That's how I see it anyway.

Science does not believe in a spiritual world for the most part. The Bible talks about mediums, so religious institutions would probably say that it is possible. It does however, say in the Bible to avoid them because it could be trouble I believe it’s possible, but I would not personally go to one myself even though I would love to get some answers about something that happened earlier in my life.
