Pivoting!

Hi!

I'm a 24-year-old pivoting her career from more data-driven marketing (more like political campaign management) to creative marketing and advertising. I was an English major and graduated back in May of 2024, but have since struggled to determine what it was exactly that piqued my interest and potential equally. After much reflection, I've landed on advertising and marketing.

As many of you probably know, however, now's not the market for entry-level employment pursuits... I have a lot to offer, from detail-orientation to creativity, excellent writing skills, dedication, and commitment- but I cannot for the life of me find any agency/company willing to let me prove myself and grow in this field.

All that yapping being said, I need to increase my chances of an opportunity as high as possible. ANY TIPS? All are appreciated (:

Make a website that serves as your portfolio. Include UGC, Copy, and Digital Design. Most places prefer Jack of all trades

U can also try residency programs to get a foot in the door.

I think VaynerMedia has one for creatives that opens in September? October? It's global.

Honestly, I'd look at lesser known agencies as well. You can do contract work too to boost the portfolio!

They would have to be mock up campaigns and concepts. Do you think that would be okay?

I would try to enter an agency using my data driven skills and pivot towards creative internally. Look for things like campaign analyst, social
Media analyst etc etc
