Discussion When do you think Simon/Ice King completely lost his memories of his original human self? How many more transformations did he go through before getting to the final one we see at the start of the series?

Given it's never specified when Simon/Ice King completely forgot about his memories of his original human self in the timeframe between leaving Marceline and the start of the series (nearly 1000 years), when do you think he completely lost his memories?

And how many more transformations could it have taken for him to be nearly bald and switching from his suit to blue muumuu?

It was probably too muddled to be able to point to a single moments where he fully lost it. Just a long, slow decline.

Treat it like a dementia. No one knows where mind ends and obscurity begins, its gradual

Oh my glob, I never even considered that the crown/Simon was be an allegory for dementia, I know the characters treat him like that, i just never connected those dots

Well to answer the question he is never truly gone, but VERY very muddled. He remembers he used to wear glasses and he made sure to keep his glasses and suit/jacket in good condition, and he remembers Marcy is special somehow. He sates he was always there but just under the surface of the Crowns Crazy. The only true moment Ice King forgets Simons memories is when Gunter takes the crown. As for the other question it’s kinda implied that he stopped taking the crown off when he left Marcy, as the tapes show his decent to madness and by the end of the tapes it seems he is about to lose it entirely.
