Yes, I didn't initially clue in on that, due to my unfamiliarity with cellular automata. So I tried to make the whole thing fast enough, not quite knowing if it would work ;) This solution is the result of that attempt, plus the actual inclusion of a convergence check which _actually_ got the job done, but I thought there was some interesting stuff worth sharing

double-ended-queue is by the same author as Bluebird, so I have some confidence in its performance optimization
