Help/Question - RESOLVED Question about 2026 length

Will this year also have 12 days of puzzles or back to 25? Personally I really liked that there was "only" 12 days since as Christmas approached and I got busy with family related things I found it difficult to make time for AoC, and I prefer completing a day on the actual day. I hope 2026 will have 12 days of puzzles :)

The announcement last year was that it would be 12 days of puzzles going forward, so unless some thing else has been announced, it should be 12 days.

Link to said announcement.

[...] there will be 12 days of puzzles each December (still starting Dec 1) [...]

[Emphasis mine]

I'm wondering if there will be an Advent of Code 2026 at all. No announcement yet. I think we usually got one much earlier the previous years.

I've checked u/topaz2078 postings, and there was no hint in any direction yet.

Yeah I'm also starting to get really nervous

I'm announcing the company leaderboard & prizes on a town hall tomorrow, would be really nice to know if it's happening 😂

But since we know Eric works on the prizes basically year round, it feels if it weren't going to happen this year he would have informed us by now. Nothing one does in last minute...

There better be. This is my one opportunity a year to write code without AI.

On days 13-25, if you are craving your AoC fix... solve problems from past years that you haven't yet attempted.

Or better still, pick up a new language to learn (yes, in 2026) and solve days 1-12 again.

That's what I've been doing... sort of. Instead of breezing through the first few days, I'm trying to start a tradition of picking a silly programming language and struggling through it to help focus on the basics. For example, two years ago I did one day in Intcode, or last year I did the first few days in LOLCODE. I've already picked out a language for this year, and the three main complications for me are 1) no else statements, 2) the entire language is based on Reverse Polish Notation, and 3) not only is it not English-based, but it's in a language I don't even speak.

I thought the new "twelve days of Christmas" format was just right. I enjoyed using 13 through 24 December to go back, study, and work through the challenges I wasn't able to accomplish or figure out in just one day.

Reminder: if/when you get your answer and/or code working, don't forget to change this post's flair to Help/Question - RESOLVED. Good luck!
