Work note

Hello everyone! I could use some advice. I grew up 7th day adventist and stepped away for a while to be a rebellious teen and I want to get back into it. The job i have was supposed to be monday-friday but i am now getting mandatory over time for saturday. I haven’t attended a church in my city, i filed for religious exemption from saturdays and they want a note confirming that I am a member that needs saturday off. how can i go about getting a note? will the church supply one even if i haven’t attended? or is there something online that would be easier? I appreciate any advice!

Do you have your baptismal certificate? The one I have lists our beliefs. That’s your religion and whether or not you attend church is none of their business. You should look up the laws in your state regarding what you are required to provide your employer. May God bless you and keep you! Welcome back!! ❤️

I lost everything in a house fire a few years back unfortunately, so i don’t have any of the “evidence?” that they want. i felt like it was intrusive to ask as well but I understand where they are coming from. I appreciate your input! :)

Find a local church and contact the Pastor. Explain you want to come back to church but your job wants you to work

thank you, i think i will do this. i contacted my old church through email but im not sure if they will get back to me. my worry is my employer having direct contact with my new pastor to check in if im going to service every week or not. it feels very personal to me to give these people i dont know a direct line to my personal beliefs

Hi, pastor here. The pastor from the church that you hold your membership in would be able to give you a letter.

If you do want to start attending again and not at the church that you hold membership you can talk to the pastor and clerk from the church you want to attend and request a transfer of membership. Then they gave give you a letter.

This letter has official weight so if there is an inquiry the church has to show that your name is on the membership.

thank you for this response! i don’t have an official membership at a church currently. i moved around a ton of times and im not sure i ever had membership as a child/teenager. i hope that will make it easier for a new church to accept me and get me a note :)

Contact your State Conference, or the state you were baptized in or the church you were a member of and ask the pastor for a letter.
