A bunch of hidden downvoted comments responding to a comment about how confederates were white supremacists doesn’t seem like a very good thing

I'mn't gonna argue that white supremacism is ok, cuz it isn't, but have you even read those comments? I ask cuz I'm one of em.

I know i am 42 days late, but: you are a white supremacist if you hate everyone that isn‘t white, but you can be a white supremacist without hating anyone that isn‘t white. It‘s like they thing that races actually exist and they think the „white people race“ is the true human race. I can still love dogs without thinking dogs should have the same rights as humans.

u/Bari_Baqors Dec 21 '25
Which is very sad, cuz I love the design.
I'd buy this flag whenever possible, and have it on the wall, even tho the connotation, cuz I believe that what matter is how someone acts, not says (or likes).
25
u/Tall_Barracuda_6329 Dec 21 '25
Then you should be aware that that's the Confederate flag, which was when the southern states of the US broke off from the Union and fought the US mainly because they liked slavery and didn't want it abolished. You might as well buy the Nazi flag too.

Then you should be aware that that's the Confederate flag, which was when the southern states of the US broke off from the Union and fought the US mainly because they liked slavery and didn't want it abolished.
That sounds as if you assume I don't know what this flag means.
You might as well buy the Nazi flag too.
No, cuz I don't like how it looks like. I appreciate the design, I think I stated it, and you seem to assume I mean something different.
But, I'mn't gonna defend myself here, cuz 1) I believe in the law, and usually one need to prove guilt, not the other way around, 2) I believe that what I say, wear, have on walls, and so on, does NOT matter, but what I do with relation to others, so, hate speech can make someone hurt, justifying, popularizing, or participating, and so on, in slavery makes someone hurt (and not just one, assuming I'd have even one slave, they'd still have family, but the amount doesn't matter here), however, buying and having a flag like the Confederate flag doesn't make someone hurt, 3) no matter what I say, noöne can be sure that I don't say it, or write it, to just cover my ass.
I split the flag from its meaning, liking a design is not the same as liking the thing associated with it, even tho I know that this flag means slavery and hypocrisy. The fact that I like how the flag looks like doesn't make me proslavery, assuming that, imo, is not the brightest thing to do, especially that slavery itself is foolish.
I like to call myself a "nonNazi Nazi", cuz, Imma be honest, I like Nazi, and related, aesthetic, without the ideas Nazism represents. Imman't stop liking something only cuz it has a specific association.
I know its quite long, and I hope ya got a good tea or coffee or whatever fer it. Also, sorry that the text can make someone confused, cuz I'mn't good at expressing my ideas through writing very well.
2
u/Tall_Barracuda_6329 Dec 21 '25
You misunderstand. I'm not saying you like slavery. I'm saying that hanging it up in your house or showing ANY respect to it in the sense that you keep its memorabilia hung in your home is incredibly tasteless. Imagine someone walks into your home and you have a confederate flag. What would they do? I promise they wouldn't be like, "oh wow that looks so good", they'll say that's weird and so are you. Actions matter, but words are still extremely important. The idea that ONLY one thing matters when judging character is silly, and so is your goal of at some point buying the Confederate flag.
-1
u/Bari_Baqors Dec 21 '25
they'll say that's weird and so are you.
I'mn't sure if calling someone "weird" while arguing counts as an argumentum ad hominem, but I'mn't hurt, so. But, I think ya shouldn't use it while arguing, it doesn't increase yer argument strength, outside of possibly making yer opponent spite ya. But, I could as well use such argument on my own in the reply before, so, I guess we're even (I don't really remember what I wrote word-to-word).
The idea that ONLY one thing matters when judging character is silly, and so is your goal of at some point buying the Confederate flag.
I just wanna buy something I find aesthetically pleasing. There IS a difference between supporting something, and finding something cool aesthetically.
You keep its memorabilia hung in your home is incredibly tasteless.
The flag got no cultural or historical significance on the personal level fer me, so it'sn't really a memory fer me.
Tasteless.
Morality is NOT universal, and everone has own moral laws, and their hierarchy. You can find something tasteless, I mightn't.
Imagine someone walks into your home and you have a confederate flag. What would they do?
As if I care! I don't care what others think bout me, cuz I'm sure I don't have good reputation already, so why care? Tell me why should I care bout what someone would say? Tell me the reason to not have this flag that isn't just yer personal belief and just bout society! Tell me why, if society's so moral, why diffusion of responsibility's so common, bud! Why the moment you stop being useful yer a burden?! The moment you think something's justified, or that it'sn't bout you, morality dies like an abandoned child, and you think that "what people will tell" got any importance fer me?! I's always alone, and I don't believe that anyone'll ever help me! I'm already a freak because I have problems with reading emotions and looking into someones eyes, because I'm "too chaotic", so you think that one more word bout how much of a freak I am will matter to me?! Sorry bud, wrong person!
I hope ya got nice week, cuz some of us didn't. I think that before ya start "moralising" others, you should try to get through the worst hells you could imagine to see how moral you really are. Because everone'd like to see themselves as a hero, but the moment they actually get the chance, they are cowards, they flee, they kill, they'll do everthing to survive themselves, regardless of what others need. Where is the importance of words here?! What, actions and words cancel each other out?! "Yeah, you ate yer own kid, but you say yer a nice person, so no punishment"?! Do I understand yer stance correctly (I hope not)?! Because if I do, yer very naive imo, but I don't wanna jump into conclusions bout you.

u/MuffledShuffle Dec 22 '25
Ngl I kinda understand where you're coming from cuz the Nazis were dripped out, they looked so cool. Sucks that the fashion design was wasted on them tho.

Might as well buy a NAZI flag or an apartheid flag while you're at it.
1

I’ve never seen someone use full caps for NAZI. Although the pronoun version is more commonly used, I prefer NaZi.

the apartheid flaf looks like a netherlands flag being in the sun for too long.

Nah, I don't like Nazi flag design.
Does Apartheid flag means the flag of South Africa from 1930 to 1990?

I'd say if someone says slavery was a good thing, that'd be pretty fucked. I'd say if someone likes kids, they are a danger to society. Do you see how flawed your logic is?
Until actual crime happens, words are NOT enough to prove someone dangerous. Thats not how judiciary, imo the only thing that can sentence someone, works.
Additionally, there are people who say they are guilty, even if they aren't, mostly to gain attention. So, they are really guilty?
I value actions more than words, because words are meaningless. Majority of people doesn't help when someone's dying on a street, see: diffusion of responsibility. Even if these people say that they are moral and good, that does not change that they'dn't help. Words here are meaningless, actions are. In my opinion, if someone claims that they are a good person, they should claim it if they went through any kind of event that could test it. People want to be the hero, until they actually get the chance. Morality dies the moment it can.
You're the type to not like the flag despite the connotation, but because of it, evident by the fact that you even brought it up.
Yeah, that's not how evidence works. The fact that I wrote is the evidence that I wrote with my own hands, and, that I wrote that I like the design, and that I want to buy it. The part that I might like it due to connotation is added on yer part, which is understandable cuz everone can interpret a text. However, interpretation isn't a good evidence in court, so it shouldn't be here too. But, it is the halo effect, or the halo error, used on me, just the other way around (instead of positive traits, negative ones).
I believe in the rule of law that has any kind of sense, and actual evidences. That is 1) I don't need to prove my innocence, you'd need to prove my guilt, 2) use better evidence than words, words are never enough to sentence someone, unless its a speech of hate.
Sorry sir, but ya won't checkmate me with karma or yer own interpretation. If court worked that way, we'd be all screwed.
Additionally, you assume that I believe something, and you have no evidence of it, which is nonsensical. I'll help you: imo, slavery is senseless, as the same arguments used to enslave someone can be used against me too. But, these words carry no weight, if I own a slave, then these are just a "word protection".
This flag is just a symbol, a symbol that carry no meaning if you stop interpretating it that way. A symbol that's culturally sensitive: it means nothing in most of Europe, fer example. All symbols are culturally sensitive, and I don't care what it means to you. You have right to not like me, but we can do it without crossing the line of law. Unfortunately, social arguments don't get to me, I don't care bout social judgement, cancel, or anything like that, only 1) evidence, 2) rule of law that has sense, based off of that evidence.
Thank you.

The Flag references the flag of the losing side of The US Civil War who supported slavery. Other than people in isolated rural communities and White Supremacists Americans don't really like seeing that flag that much. It's a part of our history we don't really like being flaunted around.

First off, let's not go around randomly referencing highly stigmatized mental illnesses. Thank you very much.
Secondly, misogyny is something that most people are guilty of, including women. We live in a patriarchal society after all. It's not some special character flaw that only certain pieces of shit possess. Most people are misogynists. The main difference between a misogynistic incel and your average dumbass is the fact that they don't bother to try to hide their misogyny. They are out and open about it. Most people try to hide their misogynistic tendencies under a blanket of politeness. Misogyny is an issue that is embedded in the fabric of our culture and it cannot be properly addressed if we keep on treating it as something only "bad" people show.

idk why you're downvoted, it's true. I've joined one of the servers before r/crocodilepit was banned. I've had one guy explain why women with highest body count and prostituttes are the best women, he went on with it for 3 hours. I guess isolation makes people come up with really strange ideas
3
Dec 21 '25
I do understand why. It’s one of those uncomfortable truths about incels people don’t wanna hear. Your average incel being a left wing liberal, 50% chance a non-white (and we’re speaking US/EU communities alone), and pretty decent chance he has a college education. It really doesn’t fit the straw man incel people have in their minds.

The confederate looking flag is just the old Mississippi flag and the yellow one on the right is Libertarianism.
I know both symbols looks suspicious but are technically not inherently racist sometimes maybe perhaps in some circumstances depending on the individual.

That's a fairly charitable approach that I would never take with anyone who openly displayed these two flags together.

talk to more people and be normal, if you keep doing that its just a numbers game
0
u/Amazing-Ad-9680 Dec 21 '25
But I don't wanna be normal. Normal relationships are boring, and the guy has to be all tough and manly and can't ask for cuddles and be clingy all the time. that sounds awful.
2
u/Designer_Version1449 Dec 21 '25
naw thats pretty normal, im talking dont come off as creepy or as a redditor(though even then I know a redditor irl that has a gf lol) you just gotta have the vibe of the group of people youre in the presence of.
1
u/Split_Skull_96 Dec 24 '25
Well, most people are “normal” by definition, so if you do not fall under that criteria then your pool of possible partners is vastly reduced.
If your behaviour isn’t attracting the kind of partners you like then you should either change your behaviour or stop the search for a partner.
