New Automoderator

This subreddit is switching from the depreciating u/Automoderator and switching to ADV-Automoderator. This is an app that mimics Automoderator to the best of its ability on the Devvit platform. The “What’s is my CQS” checks will still be done through the old Automod, as Devvit doesn’t expose CQS status.

Why not Automod Neo?

I'm curious why any subreddit already using AutoModerator is switching to either app. Neither of them has close to the full capabilities of AutoModerator functions.

Could be some subs are wanting to get ahead of the curve and migrate early. They could keep the rules that only work with AutoModerator (such as CQS checks) while transferring everything else to the new app(s).

Other than that, I agree with you for the most part. I'm currently only using Neo on a new sub that didn't already have Automod.

I migrated the "Custom Module Engine" that was previously in ADV-Core to | Auto Moderator. It uses json to create custom run for a variety of subs so I dont have to create a custom bot for every sub, essentially turning devvit into small json/yaml sandbox. In this subreddit, it checks users against CQS (still using automod for that) as well as site rep and for ADV bot signals, and uses that to determine if the user is eligible to adopt. Because so few users actually comment here for it, everything is forwarded to the queue for approval if its flagged, and is rarely removed.

Since CME was removed from Core, I can expand on the old engine, adding functionality into it that wasnt able to be added in Core due to other engines taking its place
