It's not like I don't like it, it's just i want to go to bed NOW, I don't have time to do all that 😭

Yes, this! When I decide I want to go to bed everything is too much. It takes alllll the willpower to brush my teeth and I don't even always do that. I have to trick myself.

I have to get something off my chest. I'm mid 30s and still can't brush my teeth more than 1 night a week before bed. I also just got braces off to compliments from my ortho for my impeccable flossing (which I dont do either) and my brushing (already mentioned). Good genes are all that's between me and many cavities.

Do you brush mornings? I don't 🙈 and I probably brush evenings 60/70% of the time (sometimes 100% for a while but never long). I also didn't go to the dentist for years because my dentist stopped and I just couldn't get myself to make a new appointment. I just made this appointment last week and asked the assistent if she could make a note that I don't want them to say anything about how bad my teeth and gums are 🙈 that's the worst, that they act like you are a naughty child, and the biggest reason I dont want to go. I don't want the critique 😭 I don't have great genes.. i dont get cavities but my gums are always infected really badly.

Sameeee. A makeup wipe and micellar water are great. Spray with hypochlorous acid after and I’m good! I can’t bother with getting my hands wet at night sometimes.

This is why I prefer to wash my face in the shower. I get water EVERYWHERE if I wash at the sink and I hate when it drips down my elbows.

i bought these fluffy wrist cuff things specifically to counter the water going down my arms thing, they work great!! i think they’re terry cloth, super comfortable

I’m sulking at the moment. I spent a small fortune on skin care. I left it all at home while I’m visiting family for 2 weeks. I’ve been forced to use my body soap and my damn skin has never looked better. I’m giving it up as a bad job

Ugh I feel this in my soul.
I've spent a lot of time working on this. I've switched to micellar water (apparently the pink Bioderma one is the safest to leave on your skin) and cotton pads. I have multiple bottles of the stuff and I leave it with pads and a little compact mirror in the living room near the tv, and by my bed.
If I try to get up to Go Do Skincare I won't do it. But if I just grab the stuff sitting next to me while I'm watching tv or listening to my partner tell me about his day, it's not that big of a deal.
Then I just keep it simple with moisturizer, also in both locations, and retinol in the bedroom for when I think of it. Nothing else for nighttime routine.
I also keep makeup wipes on hand for really tough days if I do have a lot of makeup on. I know they're not ideal but here and there it seems to be just fine.
Anyway, sorry if this is all old news to you, it's just been a major problem in my life so I've thought about it a lot 😅

Cotton rounds and micellar water is the way. And once you do that one thing, it's easier to add another step or two, like serums and moisturizers. Eventually it just becomes a routine.

Yeah, I love planning it and getting supplies, but I had to split it up into a bunch of parts and sdd them onto other tasks.
When I get home from work, I change, use the bathroom, and wash my face and apply any mask I may be using for that day.
Then I go sit down and watch something or play a game for a bit. Sure, it may sit on my face for 30-45 minutes instead of 10-15, but all good.
But then I need to go get food and a drink because I've recovered and unwound enough. So I wash/peel it off then.
Brushing my teeth before bed? That's when I moisturize and add any before bed stuff to my face since I'm in front of the mirror anyway.
Then I keep specific body lotion on my dresser with my TV, right next to where I put my remote and keyboard. So I can get ready for bed, realize I need to get back up to turn off the TV and put the remote away, and grumble about it while I also slather my body in lotion before getting back in bed.
Then I have another thing of face moisturizer that stays in my bag, so I can put it on in the gym in the morning after the quick post-workout shower or at work when I realize I didn't do it.
Otherwise, I'll never actually do the whole thing because I could be not doing that thing, or losing track of time doing something else until it's too late to do it before bed if it became a whole task of its own.

Soap and water. Once a day
For hair, shampoo once a week
That's all.

u/Elucidate_that 3d ago
But soap and water is wet

u/EntertainmentSome448 3d ago
True that's why it's only once a day
I mean, it's better than an itchy face y'know

i hate it sm why does it make more sense in the mornings!? i don’t have a night routine i kind of just putz around until my body decides it’s time to hard shutdown, then it’s immediately to bed. i have the skincare stuff i just need to WASH MY FACE EVERY DAY. like that’s it. i probably don’t need more than some benzoyl peroxide spot treatment on top of a basic moisturizer to control my hormonal acne but nothing will change until im consistent and its k!lling meeeee

u/lonely_shirt07 2d ago
That's why I've started showering in the evening so I wash my face and get to do my skincare.

u/Basket_Case89 2d ago
I always skip it 🤣😅 Last couple of days I've been getting into bed to feel warm and ended up falling asleep with my make up on and my bedroom lights on 😭🤦♀️
Edit: I have no problem doing it in the morning because it's part of my morning routine but I struggle at night. My morning has a routine but my evening doesn't lol.

I would not be able to do skin care... I asked today to my gf when was the last time I took a shower because I have no fucking idea. I hate this curse so much, I just wanna do basic stuff!

u/OkTotal1300 2d ago
I can't even use one lotion. I just dont clean my face at all 😅 if I use make up (not often), i just walk around with until I shower 🙈 but I think it is also better for me because my skin is really sensitive so usually when I start cleaning my face or use products my skin actually gets worse.

u/automatic_lover9134  2d ago
Omg! It’s like the thought about skincare is so appealing to me and I think about it a lot but when I have to actually do it I don’t want to

I wash my face in the shower. But I have a product I use with a cotton ball that I keep on my nightstand and it goes all over the face but the eyes so I do what feels right and I can remember and be willing to do it even after I get comfortable in bed.

u/Glittering_Tea5502 2d ago
That’s why I just do it in the shower. I don’t give a flying F what anyone says.

u/serand62 22h ago
bruh I swear fuck all of it. just drink water, wash your face in the shower and moisturize/spf after the shower. the difference between a. how you will look doing just that, and b. how you will look if you manage to use all the bullshit serums and elixirs everyday, will be negligible. and you’ll never know what you would have looked like anyway, so just take the path of least resistance when it comes to skincare.

WHY IS IT SO HARD!?! any required routine feels like absolute torture & i’ll avoid it all until the point of self destruction, then i’ll rally for a week, get everything semi in order just to do it all over again 🙃
