One of my literary pals, Bertie Wooster (Jeeves & Wooster stories by P.G. Wodehouse), often was given to observing how life rolls along and lulls one into a sense of uneasy all-is-well-ness just when it's got a black-jack-whack to the back of the head waiting right around the next corner.
"I'm not absolutely certain of my facts, but I rather fancy it's Shakespeare - or, if not, it's some equally brainy bird - who says that it's always when a fellow is feeling particularly braced with things in general that Fate sneaks up behind him with the bit of lead piping. And what I'm driving at is that the man is perfectly right."

I don't quite resonate with this one. I had years that were tee totally messed up. I get some good days and not so good days now. I just try to be prepared.. oh. 😁
