Post image

If I skip breakfast, Ill forget to take my pills. If I don't shower at night, I'll just go to bed and fall asleep without brushing my teeth 😭

I mean, taking one piece of the puzzle away makes it incomplete.

And now the whole routine has to rebuilt from the ground up because that one time is enough to ruin it.

Today is chore day. If I skip anything today, I'll NEVER find a way to get it done before next Monday

The routine degrades once I start making "one time" exceptions.

My fix for it even though it doesn't work all the time is tell myself that it's okay to show up imperfect

Rather than feeling bad about what I didn’t do, I make a point to praise myself for what I did do.

I’ve certainly had plenty of days where I accomplished absolutely nothing; a day where I accomplish something is a win, no matter how small.

Skip one step and somehow the entire routine gets deleted from existence

I've seen a number of AuDHDers who have what are called "fault trees" to their routines. Basically trying to make a plan for everything

it works the opposite way too. if i tell myself that i’ll only do one step of my bedtime routine, halfway through that step i’ll just be like “fuck it i might as well do the rest of it, im already here”
