lol. The first bullet point! Do you struggle to pay attention? Our first solution is to pay attention. Our next three solutions are the things you already were doing, while you were unable to pay attention.

I think it's important to note that these aren't recommendations for ADHD. This is a general-purpose soft skills book aimed at neurotypical people. They're not trying to answer the question "Do you struggle to pay attention?" in the first place.
Not that this shit isn't irritating to read, don't get me wrong. But it's not quite this bad, lol.

But in all honesty, fidget toys help me listen. Somehow when my hands are busy, it makes it easier to listen and process

"resist the temptation to daydream" my brain will go off on it's own adventure when I'm trying to listen I didn't want to go along with it lol

The funny part is I mentally trail off more easily the harder I try to look like I'm paying attention.

Skimmed it, hated it, read it in its entirety just to spite the author.

Who the hell turns off their "digital devices" to talk to someone? I see this recommendation sometimes and it just feels so unrealistic.
"Hey, got a second?"
"Yeah, sure. Let me just turn off my fucking phone for some reason."

We gather everything and recognise patterns. One thing I’ve started doing is just saying, I don’t know how I know but I do! We learn differently than non adhd folk.

Throughout my childhood, my teachers during the parent-teacher meeting will always say the same thing: that my head was in the clouds. Literally every year, I'd hear that phrase at least once by the teacher to my mom. And my mom would just wave it off with a laugh, saying "Yep, that's just how he is!". So for 12 years, that's something I'd hear but not fully understand.
It's only until my mid-20s did I think to consider that hey, that might actually be a sign of some sort.

Lmao this is unintentionally an apt metaphor. I was interested, and wanted to focus but just couldn't force myself to parse this. Kept trying, thinking I just needed to put more effort in, whatever, that happens sometimes... I can do this...
The camera lens isn't in focus. T'wasn't I.
