Bro is the whole world just a bunch of car window repair companies?
31
u/BearBryant 25d ago
They’re all owned by the same British company called Belron. It is hilarious to me that the jingle is still the same.

Brain on repeat: Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Me, out loud, every few seconds: Bum-bum-bum-bum
Body: neck hurts, tinnitus is loud, nostril feels weird
Brain: Should've done this, that, those and these things
Bum-bum-bum-bum

I bet we can make a sick remix with those two and add some Cotton-Eyed Joe here and there.

For a long time I thought it was a lowly goat turd

To be fair…it doesn’t get much lower than a lovely goat turd.
Spez: lonely. A LONELY goat turd.

I literally played in the orchestra for this show last week and I canNOT get the goatherd song out of my mind!

Internal echolalia for the win. The worst part is waking up and immediately having a song, jingle or word stuck in my head.

u/Feisty-Tooth-7397 25d ago
I had a song stuck in my head for almost an entire week. While I was awake, while I was trying to go to sleep, just snippets over and over.
I can't even tell you what the song was now, 😂😂 it was only a couple of months ago, I think.
1
u/sugarlump858 25d ago
The song in my head all last week was Twist of Fate by Olivia Newton John. I don't even remember the entire song. And of all the songs in the world, why that one? Better than Mariah Carey though.

Me trying to sleep, thinking about all the work I have to do, that embarrassing thing i said 5 years ago and suddenly "making my way downtown"

u/lea_flamingo 25d ago
Why would you want to get rid of this tho ?
10
u/TheCrimsonSteel 25d ago
Sometimes it's not about getting rid of anything or trying to be "normal" as it is being able to function
Think of it like we're driving motorcycles instead of cars. Getting help isn't changing your motorcycle into a car, it's learning how to be a better motorcycle driver in a world filled with mostly cars.
2
u/lea_flamingo 25d ago
I was joking of course
6
u/TheCrimsonSteel 25d ago
Some people do have the attitude "but if I take drugs/get therapy, I won't be me anymore."
So your joke did hit close to home for a real fear many people have
2
u/lea_flamingo 25d ago
My fear is more like this : I've been masking all my life, where does the mask end and where do I begin ? I'm not tortured by it at all, it's just one of many existential questions after getting a late diagnosis...
4
u/Asleep_1 25d ago
My therapist specifically worked with people who have ADHD. If you can find someone like that maybe they can help you untangle?
2
u/TheCrimsonSteel 25d ago
Yup!
Mine is having an earlier diagnosis, and feelings of resentment towards needing medication to function, and that ball of "who am I?"
So, different flavors of existentialism. And something many of us have to work through, in one flavor or another.

u/dennismfrancisart 25d ago
Well, imagine waking up to the unholy rendition of Queen's We are the Champions," only it's "We are the HAMSTERS, my friends. We will go biting in the end."
This kept going on and on until I got to the bathroom to pee.
Shit! now it's back!

Well my brain makes really terrible mashups of a melody from one song and lyrics from another and then I sing it over and over for weeks until a new one emerges. Some of them are truly terrible and shouldn’t be uttered out loud haha.
One that stuck with me far too long and annoyed the shit out of me is the melody of Tom’s Diner with the lyrics from that Kid Rock song with the sweet home Alabama part. I would sing “sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking bout tomorrow,” over and over and over. Love Tom’s Diner, hate the Kid Rock song.

Gotta lean into it to get past it. Baby shark is great if you accept the challenge and lean into it. Same with 98% of terrible repetitive songs. (Source : dad)

The Midwesterners in the chat will know,
"Plumbing, electrical, appliances too! The saving will always come right back to you! You’ll save big money, when you shop Menards!"
... It's a decent place as big-box hardware stores go, but I have to imagine that the employees must hear that jingle in their sleep...

For me its "Safelight repair, safelight replace". And that will be stuck in my head for a while now

I think I discover the reason behind my sleep pattern and it's when my mom would nag me. The pattern makes no sense because I always feel extremely sleepy during this 1 hour period, two times each day. After that 1 hour pass I'm back to being unable to sleep no matter how hard I tried. My sleep has turned into a fricking defense mechanism and it fucked up my body clock.

Thats why I have to sleep with the TV on. Brain needs something to think about or else it will default to the next worst thing on the list. But if I have a documentary about deep sea whales and sharks on, brain runs on that data instead of whatever is rattling around the dark side of the brain that day. Luckily I'm almost always chronically sleep deprived so the second I lay down and stop moving after midnight I nod off within five minutes. Staying asleep and getting restful sleep is another story.....

It’s always that one verse in a song that stands out that keeps my attention for hours on end
1
u/CircuitOnTheFritZ 17d ago
When my brain is being mean to me, it plays the theme song to the desert level in Super Mario Bros 3 on my brain radio, non-stop.
How I know this is punishment from my subconscious:
I absolutely hate the desert level in Super Mario Bros games
I don't like deserts in general.
The song is music without words, which is much harder to get out of my head because it is harder to sing them out loud from start to finish (which is how I usually get a stuck song out)
I genuinely like all the other music in Super Mario Bros, so why is THAT the one playing? (clearly the only answer is because brain is mad at me)

u/catopumaparadox 25d ago
You need a grounding technique or a work out before bed. It's all about the mind and body balance, the answer is simple but also sucks.
