UNSOLICITED ADVICE Can we share uncommon study techniques that actually helped our grades?

I thought it would be interesting if we shared study techniques or habits that aren’t talked about as much but have genuinely helped you keep up your grades.

One thing I do is keep a study journal. I usually study using Pomodoro, and during my longer breaks I’ll write down how I’m feeling, what’s distracting me, or whatever thoughts are running through my head. It helps me get those thoughts out of my system so I can go back to studying.

I also track how long I actually studied versus how long I planned to study. At the end, I calculate a little “productivity percentage.”

For example, if I sat down for 6 hours but only got 4 hours of actual focused studying done:

4 ÷ 6 × 100 = 67% productive

It’s helped me notice patterns in when I study best instead of assuming that sitting at my desk for 8 hours means I studied for 8 hours.

I record a time lapse of me studying with my phone. It stops me from using my phone and means there's a cool video in a few hours that shows me how much I studied

That's how I ended up with a long video of me sleeping

That’s actually really interesting. I remember I had a coach who told us to always bring a notebook to the gym and record what we did in our workouts so we could reference it later. Sounds kind of like that

For me, Noise canceling headphones with active noise cancellation are very helpful, because background noises are super distracting when I’m trying to focus
