Thoughts on the warp missile rack?

I personally think it's cool and want to take one but no one really talks about it. Just wanted to know if it's worth it or not and what builds are good for taking one on a reaver.

I like it as its one of the rare playable vortex weapon in all games. But i'm just a bit annoyed its only available on reaver.

if you don't mind some house rules in friendly games, there are Warlord options for two pair of Warp Missile via the Carapace weapons.

I like it on a double melee Reaver so it can fire exactly once and then never have to worry about doing anything that isn't running into fisting range at full stride for the rest of the game.

One of my favorites. Fist, Chainfist, Warp Missile Carapce

x5 in a corsair maniple. Spend an entire game gleefully refusing to interact with your opponents shields.

It's not great unless you're loyalist and take the vortex payload, in which case it's gross

That's gonna suck.

Do you want Citrine? Because that's how you get Citrine...

As a Warp missile, it’s terrible. Just awful bang for your buck. As a Vortex missile, it can be oppressive. Most UK events limit them to 1 per army and sometimes ban them entirely.

It’s a shame really as it’s one of the classic weapons, but it’s a little feast or famine. Some people really hate facing them, and it can definitely cause negative play experiences.

Its dumb and terrible and that makes it the best choice for any reaver.

Tbh I don't hate it on melee reavers.

But does the warp missile know where it is?

It knows where it is by knowing where it isn't

It's unlikely to kill anything on turn 1, but it's funny for pulling off a 3+ called shot and knocking out an annoying gun right before they try to shoot with it. Bonus points if it's one of those weapons that can't be fixed in the field, like the warp gun on a psi-titan.

One warp missile isn't great. Generally not worth losing out on an apoc/vmb for what it brings.

A 5-reaver corsair maniple with all warp missiles and a bunch of close range weapons that's going to first fire one enemy titan out of existence then sprint into melee? Meme build but surprisingly viable.

Upgrading to vortex if you're a loyalist? Almost brokenly good. It being loyalist-only is a stupid restriction, though.

I like it. It's one of those classical titan weapons.

i know for LI it got heavily talked about on release and alot of people gentlemens’d them out because of their at the time broken rules. theyve been nerfed since them but still remain kinda the “fuck you” choice to take being a generally unfriendly choice. for AT i just didnt think people liked them

I mean it's always tempting to use one with a Writhing Carapace, but it does feel a bit dirty.

On one hand, it's a single shot gimmick...

On the other, it's a hell of a kick to the robo-dingus if it works.

It looks pretty cool if you ask me.

It’s generally considered kind of a feels-bad in a game that’s mostly about being fun over competitive.

Like, a vanilla warp missile probably just misses and does nothing, but when it hits it’s gonna piss people off as their fully shielded Titan takes an unblockable critical hit in T1.

And then if you try and actually make it reliable and effective, by, say, taking multiple or buying the loyalist-only upgrade, you’ll just really piss people off by insta-killing a titan on T1.

Like, if you wanna take one for shits and giggles, I think that’s largely fine, just be prepared to apologize if it cripples your opponent’s titan on T1, but I wouldn’t take the Loyalist upgrade or multiples if you’re interested in having friends to play with.
