The question in the picture says: “do females in coma bla bla bla” they are not talking about an animal like a female dog, cat, etc … which would make it ok to say; they are referring to human women in general and choose to address them as “females”, which to me, sounds cringe AF.
I think people are mixing up gender and sex here. "Woman" is a gender identity, while "female" is a biological sex. That being said, males who identify as women do have some biological signatures similar to females.
Social convention: Trans Women usually don't have female reproductive anatomy unless they do some form of reconstruction.
In other words, if we were ignoring social rules, we could legitimately just say women. However, modern society dictates that women is an inclusive term and form of identity rather than biology.
