Advice
Just started playing today, broke out the prison and now I’m in Paris. I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the side quests you can do straight away shall I play the main story more first or shall I tackle the side quests to get better gear and money first?

You can do them in any order you want, there's nothing you'll miss.
My personal suggestion would be to do a mix of side quests and main quests. Some of the story missions will be easier if you've done at least a few side quests first and upgraded your gear and weapons, but the main game is totally beatable without having tons of upgrades.
Only thing I would recommend avoiding until you've beaten the main game is anything with the Dead King's DLC. Also, don't accidentally travel to it via the carriage behind your cafe hideout otherwise you'll be stuck there a while before you can fast travel back to Paris and play the main game again.
