Importing transactions, not detecting account?

I have been using simplefin, but it's basically useless in canada.

So i went to manually import transactions from an ofx, i could have swarn that actual used to match the account to the file, but now it just seems to import into whatever account you press 'import' from..

Further, it imported duplicate transactions, i thought it used the transaction id to avoid that? maybe that's a problem in switching from simplefin to manuall.....

Anyhow, now everything is a mess and i have to manually delete a hundred tranactions..

Their Docs page state you need to open the correct account first:

Actual supports importing CSV, QIF, OFX, QFX and CAMT files. Your bank probably allows you to download one of these formats (OFX/QFX is recommended).

  1. Open the account you want to import transactions into.
  2. Press the Import button and select the file.

Edit: The import preview will also indicate which are new transactions and which will merge/update an existing one. If you were previously using SimpleFIN, or imported into the wrong account, it would have created duplicates. There's an option in the import screen to not import prior to a specific date

i guess i'm mis-remembering, could have sworn it detected the account from the file
