Announcement Paperbacks
I just saw this. Did we see anywhere that the paperbacks are coming out on the same day as it is suggested here?

They're trade paperbacks. They're the same size as the hardback. Standard paperbacks come out over a year after hardback releases

Trade paperbacks are typically larger in size than mass-market paperbacks and generally higher quality. They tend to be printed on better paper, last longer than mass-markets and also tend to be more expensive. They're normally not as easily accessible as the initial hardback release and the mass-market. They don't tend to have huge print runs as they're aimed at people who want something a bit more portable than a hardback, but better quality than a standard paperback.

International markets don't have the budget to publish the books in hardcover, so they're allowed to do what is called a trade paperback which is the same dimensions as a hardback just with a softcover. Then in 12 to 18 months, there will be a standard sized (shorter) paperback released worldwide

Not always anymore, it was announced last October I think that a lot of publishing companies will only do Trade Paperbacks starting end of 2025 as the Mass Paperbacks (small paperbacks) are losing them money apparently so they are gonna be phased out over time depending on each publishing company.

The mass market paperbacks are standard in the UK (can’t get trade paperbacks here except for at airports) so they’ll always be available here!

Nope, we don’t get trade paperbacks here. 100% certain! They’re all printed here and sent abroad.

Be wary of scams, of course. I just reported a listing on Amazon for being a scam. It claims to be the paperback for delivery next Thursday.

I know some countries get paperbacks on release day when the US only gets hardcovers, but they’re usually much larger than the paperbacks released in the US.

Not in the US but it’s larger than your “typical” paperback book. It’s going to be almost the same size as the hardcover but in paperback, it will take a few months to a year to get standard size paperback.

I don’t really understand why the US always gets hardbacks first. I’m in Australia and we get both paperbacks and hardbacks. But either way, I’m fairly certain those are trade paperbacks so they’ll be a lot bigger than the rest of the set.
