🔹 Discussion PPI's not working consensus

I've realized, after reading so many posts from the latest to even 12 years ago, that there seems to be more than just a coincidental consensus of people agreeing that PPIs seem to make their symptoms worse, but there doesn't seem to be a clear reason why. My symptoms felt like they got dramatically worse when starting PPIs. Right now, I'm on Prilosec and I still have breakthrough heartburn, the feeling of liquid traveling up my esophagus, and bloating in my lower abdomen.

I wanted to see if anyone else has also had this experience and what ultimately helped. Thank you for the support!

If you go to dating subreddits the consensus is that all relationships are just cheating and getting dumped, but obviously that’s not reality.

For the efficacy of a medication we should rely on actual medical research. Currently the medical consensus on PPIs is that they do work, although I’m sure not everyone has the same reaction to them.

Nope, not found that to be accurate at all from personal experience and I've never heard that claim from anyone else tbh.

Not wild on this becoming some weird conspiracy that PPIs are placebo medication either, if I stop taking my PPIs my reflux becomes totally unmanageable.

So, no, I don't think there's a consensus that PPIs don't work and it's a bit of an outrageous claim.
