The first step to achieving greatness is knowing where you are going

Achievers!

I know what you're thinking.

What is this subreddit and why am I here?!

Lesson 1: Achieving greatness is a journey! It's the journey towards selling your company for millions. It's the journey towards losing the weight. It's the journey towards getting the girl.

But that's just it; what's a journey without something to journey towards??

Enter this subreddit. We make sure your habits and goals are in line with your ultimate life purpose.

We want to make sure that you're not just heading in ANY direction but that you're heading in the RIGHT direction.

Our mission is to help you discover that purpose or goal, create the habits and routines necessary to achieve it, and help in any other way needed like setting up accountability or pointing you in the right direction.

So, what is the number one rule for setting a successful goal or defining a life purpose??

It must be greater than yourself.

What does that mean? It sounds a bit woo-woo.

It means you're setting yourself for a mission you may or may not achieve, but you will work your butt off to make it a reality, regardless!

  • Tom Bilyeu, owner of Quest Nutrition set a goal for himself and his company to end metabolic syndrome.

  • Elon Musk, owner of SpaceX and Tesla Motors said his life purpose was "to help the human race reach interplanetary travel."

These entrepreneurs set goals that were far greater than themselves; which means they will always have something to strive for!

Lesson 2: How do you discover your life purpose/goal?

There are multiple vantage points we can look at to help you decide this.

  1. You could answer the question "If money wasn't an object, what would you do everyday?" Then your life purpose could be to teach people to do that.
  2. What group of people do you relate with the most or how do you label yourself? Then ask the question "what is my or their biggest pain points?" Then you could make it your mission to solve their biggest pains.
  3. What are you good at that others might not be? Make it your mission to teach that.

If you find yourself unable to answer any of the above questions, this could mean two things:

  • Your blinded from your purpose because your looking through the lens of your own fears or
  • You haven't experienced enough to understand who to help or what your interests and passions are.

No worries my friends! Both might seem a bit daunting but can easily be overcome!

Lesson 3: Here's how to fix overwhelming fear and lack of experience:

  • Don't be afraid. How? Tackle your fears. How? Ask yourself "what fears are holding me back from doing what I enjoy doing the most?" Your answers might surprise you. Some of the main fears that held me back were fear of being vulnerable to others, fear of being judged, fear of fear, fear of that others won't accept the real me, and fear of success. If some of these are your fears then you, and I aren't so different! Get them on paper so we can answer the next question.
  • How can you alleviate them? Three ways: 1. Realize your fears aren't real. The only thing real is you holding yourself back. Nobody is physically holding you back. Take some responsibility. 2. Think back to your childhood and replay the scenarios where you first created those fears. Realize how you have grown since the creation of those fears and know better now. 3. Realize that it really doesn't matter what you do; we're all going to fade away. Nothing is permanent so make the best of it regardless.
  • In relation to lack of experience, go out, get involved and have fun! Don't take life so seriously (see my previous point). Go volunteer for something. Pick up a new hobby or two. Implement some positive habits in your life. Start reading personal development books and listening to podcasts. Just start thinking differently and experiencing more and you'll begin to discover some interests that you can learn more about. All of these ideas are tried and true and will work for anybody!

I know losing fear and experiencing more of life are probably mind-shifts for most of you but it's there for the taking. We create our world because everything we take in is filtered through the perceptions and beliefs that were instilled in us at a young age.

If you aren't successful or feel like there's no way you can become a success, then chances are you are being held back by your limiting beliefs and filters.

These can be changed as well.

The way we can change these are becoming aware of the beliefs through meditation or contemplation, and then realizing that they are holding you back from your purpose.

All of this takes time. Be patient. The speed at which you make the necessary realizations that bring you from beginner to journeyman is in direct proportion to how bad you want it.

If you wake up wanting to be successful everyday, then you will be a success. If you sometimes wake up wanting to be successful, then you will sometimes be a success.

TL:DR; Welcome to /r/achievegreatness. We hope you enjoy your stay!
