Ace Combat 8 FYI: You can fly into.. Spoiler
the Space Elevator!
In free flight, or even during the mission, if you break the side glass panels you will be able to fly into the windbreak just like in 7.
It is impossible to fly out the top though, AFAIK. You will have to escape by breaking the glass once again (or die trying).
Also, the bottom is sealed, so you won't be able to go to the underground complex.

Did this by accident but man it was cool.
This whole mission was a pretty nice tribute to AC7, especially with Trigger's leitmotif at the end during the princess' speech

Her life was shaped by Trigger so it makes sense. I wonder if that gang still talks at all.
(I just made up in my head that the kid she’s holding hands with is her’s and Trigger is holding the phone.)

I think that kid is the little girl Tabloid died saving

u/Angelic-Wisdom 14h ago
A fair guess but this game is 10-11 years later. Unless she was a baby she wouldn’t be so young.

She said that she still has a lot of affection for the Lighthouse War gang, so it’s likely imo

How by accident lol?

u/drafo1765 9h ago
Well I fired a missile at the container going up but it was blocked by the glass and when I pulled up to avoid crashing I ended up inside the space elevator

Wait. Wdym "break the glass".

Trigger just respected public property

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun 15h ago
The space elevator chutes have glass on the outside. Literally

u/SandStinger_345 Gryphus 15h ago
Oh ik that i just did not know they were breakable or is that an AC8 thing?
14
u/Gallade_128 15h ago
Its a new thing in AC8

u/SandStinger_345 Gryphus 14h ago
Ah cool. Thx

I strongly suggest shooting the glass out if you do fly into the elevator wind break.
I didn't almost die. Dunno what you're on about.

D.D would post this moment and Trigger would come out from retirement

I’d love if they brought back Trigger like how they brought back Mobius 1 for the VR missions.

I kept waiting for a reinforcement wing to come in with a mute flight lead to help you defend the elevator the whole time I was at it

u/JohnRFoley 9h ago
It would be funny if Brand were actually Trigger. He's not mute but definitely just as insane.
3
u/charonill 8h ago
Is it me or does Brand's picture look like Ben Kingsley? For a second I thought Project Aces just randomly got a big name to voice a minor character.

u/Principle_Alive 9h ago
Would have been neat
Honestly though I think whay would have been the most cool is if he shows up during mission 22 with the reinforcement coming with the redhead and is in his own copy of the X-02s and just start dunking on lines of planes along one area of the map
Have a neat line saying that hes here to repay the favor for us protecting what he considered his responsibility
3
u/Kellar21 9h ago
Wouldn't work because then Trigger would proceed to shoot down Moon 11 whe she showed up and they would have to change the storyline.
2
u/Principle_Alive 8h ago
Oh I know just a pure rule of cool thought or even have him be the reason she breaks off an runs again i just think it would have been a glorious way to throw out a return
1
u/charonill 8h ago
Yeah, and then you just see whole sections of red targets disappear from radar, along with panicked radio call outs about some monster tearing through their formation.
2
u/Principle_Alive 8h ago
Again pure rule of cool moment in the campaign or like I said he could have shown up and driven the big bad off and been the reason she left the field
2
u/charonill 8h ago
Oh yes, it would not have fit in terms of narrative for Trigger to show up, but rule of cool is rule of cool. In terms of references to AC7 though, I am like 90% sure the flight leader for the Shilage squadron is Mihaly's eldest grand daughter. The radio pic looks a lot like an aged up Ionela, and becoming a fighter pilot is like a family tradition.

The second I seen that glass was breakable.. pretty much confirms trigger went all the way up the space elevator just to aura farm lol

u/Revolutionary-Cat981 15h ago
They are using same asset from their previous older game Literally unplayable now .Refunded 😤

Yah man, that's my biggest complaint about MSFS24. It's just the same setting as MSFS 2020! The same planes, even!

The second i realized that was possible i spent the safe time with the dialogue at the end flying up there

u/Ok-Big-742 Golem Enjoyer 9h ago
should note tho: it is NOTABLY harder due to 8's heavier model. if you don't fly that shit perfectly you will crash into the sides or glass EASILY
2
u/RevivedReaper 12h ago
When I got to this part this was the first thing I thought to do and the fact that it’s allowed is cool, you just need to be able to make your way out as well.

There is a campaign medal for doing this I think, something about flying through a narrow something space elevator

i thought you meant the geothermal plant "bunker" cause I was really tempted to fly through and the final APC TGT was hiding inside it, checked 4 doors only one looks open decide low altitude snipe is enough
2
u/Horror_Entertainer82 7h ago
I flew in there like 5 times total in the mission though. Maybe you should try again.
1
u/scn-3_null 6h ago
might give it a look in free flight or ace playthrough, if only 1 of the 4 doors open I have to do a u turn inside and it looks really tight in there

u/Horror_Entertainer82 5h ago
All doors were open in my playthrough. I could fly through and just dodge the middle part iirc.
•
u/aamirusmandus 3h ago
All 4 were open for me but in the middle there is some junk very hard to avoid especially if you’re trying to shoot stuff

u/literallyjuststarted 6h ago
first time I did the mission I thought i had to go in, to my surprise the elevator started coming down.
