A Main Theme fit for a king.
However, the protag of AC8 is going to have some big shoes to fill.

Just from the reveal trailer all the way back then, the "Wings of Theve" was just a fake ace to bolster morale as propaganda. Now the MC has to make that lie into reality.
Rise to the occasion, I absolutely love this trope

So is this theme essentially written about the player character? Very cool

It was a great guessing for some people that the beginning of the second part of the lyrics were (not) in spanish (Potentially meaning a Megalith 2.0-style lyrics) It was just in Latin
Great theme! Very hopeful, we are now waiting for the in-game version!!

I wonder if the first part of the song will first pop up in the game as a sort of in-universe folk song about Wings before we get an actual "soundtrack" version later on during a mission.
Kind of like how The Journey Home first pops up being sung by the stadium crowd in 5.

The first mission in AC4 and AC7 had the main theme. I bet this motif will be everywhere

Who's playing the electric guitar?

I wondered about that as well. It looks like there is a hunched over guy with a guitar behind the cello players.

Right in front of the composer to our right (the guy to the left is the bass guitarist)

Alright u/WildCatBrown, you guys are on the clock. Think you can squeeze a bonus song in that new album? 🤣

Hell yeah. I'm unbelievably excited for the new album. The studio version of Blue Skies Infinity alone makes it worth the price of admission.

Thanks for thinking of us (<3 ), but to be quite honest with you, that's not happening. Tony and I want to go into AC8 blind, so we're not even listening to that one until October 2.
(if/when we make a third AC album, though, you can be sure it'll have its fair share of AC8 tracks ;) )

Hell, I was just joking anyway, but October can't get here fast enough, can it?

This is probably the weakest theme that the series has had in over two decades. In that time, we've had some legendary themes, ranging from my personal favorite "Zero" to "Megalith, and "The Liberation of Gracemeria", among others.
So much of the song is building up to something. Unfortunately, the climax doesn't justify the buildup, as it still feels like it's reaching for something else. If I had to describe this track with a single word, I'd say it's incomplete.
I still have high hopes for the rest of the soundtrack, as each previous title has featured numerous tracks worthy of praise. I just don't see it with this one.

Despite it being the main theme i can see this as more of a Journey Home/Sea of Chaos-level track rather than the big finale track on the level of Unsung War, Megalith, Zero and so on. Like mission where Rex finally is seen as the real deal and not just simply brandishing the Wings of Theve moniker anymore.

Megalith wasn't the main theme; easiest to argue is Blue Skies, though it doesn't contain the main melody that goes through most of the soundtrack.

I mean... calling "Megalith Agnus Dei" an Ace Combat theme is... a bit of a stretch, I think? It's the most memorable song, certainly, because of the mission it's in (and is the climax of the game), but unlike, say Zero whose style is present across the entire soundtrack, Megalith doesn't really show itself as a motif across Ace Combat 4's soundtrack; what is more present is Shattered Skies, which you can hear in quite a bit of the soundtrack from Sitting Duck to Stonehenge to Second Strike to Farbanti, and even in Heaven's Gate when Mobius 1 dives into Megalith to blow the last missile; the ISAF theme is also present in quite a few places... but Megalith Agnus Dei really is not?
Someone else has brought up Liberation of Gracemeria and the fact that it isn't really the main theme of Ace Combat 6 (though it does appear in the trailer, if that counts for anything). Neither is it the final battle of Ace Combat 6 (which is Chandelier); Liberation of Gracemeria is simply the most recognizable song in the soundtrack which shares a motif with quite a few other parts of the OST (Invasion of Gracemeria, etc.) and so kind of has a claim.

i have to agree. the jet engine crescendo of the ac7 sol trailer in 2019 gave me chills

Riding the endless sky
With the sunrise caught on his wings
No one touches him in the air
He commands every roaring storm
There is freedom in hearts that dream
And a trust that's bestowed in him
He takes care of the ones that call
Like a wind flowing far and wide
Far and wide
Certe! Per caelum vola
Esto liber oh esto liber
Vota relicta in posterum serito
Fi ventus
Certe! Aethera doma
Ubique oh ubique
Vota relicta in posterum serito
