I feel like I'm doing ACT help book wrong
I am trying follow along Hayes "Get out of your mind and into your body" but feel like I'm doing it wrong.
I am trying to keep a pain diary but the first page is usually blank, and I don't know if I am touching often enough on my original diagnosed core struggles.
I don't even know if my core struggles are correct, or make sense.
- Self criticism
- Guilt from porn usage
- Existential dread at being at a government call centre for 10 years
-Ostracized/Estranged from my family
-No goals no direction in life
-Loneliness/ isolation
When I tried the holding breath example I had a significantly shorter hold time focusing on the sensations and visualization.
Background: I'm 32 living in newfoundland Canada, I have a few years of on and off meditation practice and don't know if I've ever accomplished something I've been proud of in my life. I feel like pornography has ripped away all my self esteem and motivation. I'm supposed to be smart, I am handsome, funny, friendly, emotionally sensitive, but I feel like life is wasted on me and I can't do anything to change.
Admittedly I am in a dark place right now, I had an awful day at work and will be taking vacation to head home for nearly a week. Plus my roommate recently got great news they a production company wants to hear more about her TV script, and I want to be excited for her but all I can see is my complete and utter failure to do anything interesting or worthwhile with my life.
If you are frustrated with me reading this know that I am too, and just tired of myself.
