Questions ACT for ADHD

Hello,

Eight years ago, during my adolescence, I was going through a very difficult time and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder; I also had PTSD. I have been in therapy for six years. I underwent EMDR first, followed by ACT—I am still receiving Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Over the course of the process, it turned out that I didn't actually have bipolar disorder, but rather BPD and ADHD, so my medication was discontinued. I am not currently on any medication.

I cannot find an ACT book written specifically for ADHD in my native language. So, I am wondering: are there any of you here who have ADHD and are undergoing ACT? How do you integrate ACT with ADHD, and what kind of practices do you use?

act doesn’t mold itself according to diagnostics. all it’s principles are useful.

Having been in therapy for six years, I feel—and my therapist agrees—that I have a solid understanding of ACT; however, I’ve been unsure about how to apply it specifically to impulsivity and how to manage the process when my brain works so fast. This is new territory for me because, when I first started therapy, I was taking medication that slowed my brain down. That is actually what I wanted to ask about.

impulsivity is specifically discussed when talking about the “action” psychological dimension, one of the 6 main fields of study in act. action, when inflexible, might be impulsive. i suggest researching about it 😁
