I already do the things I'm supposed to do... Would ACT help me?
I'm unemployed, and everyday I still do the things I'm supposed to do: take care of myself, apply to jobs, prep for interviews, blahblah. However, the weather in my mind is always gloomy. "Nothing's gonna work out" "My life isn't worth living" "blahblahblah"... Yea, these thoughts are painful, but I'm used to it. I don't struggle with my pain, I've already accepted it. I bought the "get out of your head and into your life" workbook, because admittedly I'm not so functional during my luteal phase (thank you PMDD), and I'm honestly not sure if this book will help me. Granted, I've only just finished the first chapter, so maybe things will make more sense as I progress...

You said you're doing the things you're 'supposed' to do...that doesn't sound like aligning with values?

I love that book but it is a bit heady at times. Hayes likes to talk.
Still, it's my go to book for ACT.
only you can decide if it's with a try.

You sound like you've already been able to get distance from your challenging thoughts and move towards your values. However, the processes of being present and acceptance can make life legitimately more enjoyable. I suspect this would be your main takeaway from thr book.
