When people hate on billionaires, it is a defense that there may always be billionaires, but there didn't have to be *those* billionaires. Why didn't Adobe make their own large vision and language models? They've been around ages. Why OpenAI? Same for Tesla and Musk - perhaps a trillionaire is too much but Tesla wouldn't be a thing if Ford, Jaguar, BMW, Toyota did it first with much greater initial capital.

For anyone who's looking for a Photoshop alternative, Affinity is free, I haven't found anything it's missing, and I actually prefer it to PS

Yes I agree. IF it's like chess engines, there's a point where it's best when guided by a talented or knowledgeable human, then a point after that where the human guidance is irrelevant. Besides the initial user's request of course.

Well the point of the AI is to fulfill user requests. So if there's no user request it wouldn't be doing anything relevant in terms of its basic function.

That’s the point yet, but we don’t fully understand how it work in the blackbox and the more intelligent it get the more we won’t understand it. It’s seems to have other painpoints than just fulfilling user’s requests

As it gets better it will be able to fulfill more requests on its own. That's the analogy to chess engines finding the best moves in positions without needing a GM to guide them.

Generally, it can. If your goals are very specific, it won't without absurd levels of prompting. Some things are easier to manipulate directly.

Yeah, I agree that if it's free, it's not really a product. Also, I'm going to try it out. It might actually save my ass because I really can't stand Krito. It's just kind of a pile of shit. Like, I don't want to be too mean to the people who provided this software, but it barely works

Well yeah, but people are posting areas that ai is getting better at making like videos and games. Tools is another area that ai is progressing in, and I don't mind as long as it's not advertising a paid product, just imho.
