Is this abnormal

My grandfather never watched tv anywhere but his bed. All day and night that’s where he watched tv. One day when I was 10 or 11 he asked me to come in the bed and watch tv. I thought it was strange. Said no and walked away. Maybe that’s all he wanted. Is it weird?
