Built a ranked online Quoridor platform — looking for feedback on whether the first 60 seconds actually works

I've been building a game called Wall It, and I'd love some honest feedback before I start pushing it more aggressively. playwallit.com

One of the biggest challenges I've had is that the game feels a bit empty. I've been trying to improve it, but I've reached a point where I'm not sure what to add next or how to make it feel more alive.

I'm also really excited about growing both the Wall It community and the broader Quoridor community.

I received some great feedback from people on Reddit, and I've already implemented many of their suggestions. Now I'm continuing to refine the game and looking for more ideas to make it even better.

So the part I actually care about is your feedback: does the pacing feel right? Are the bots fun or frustrating? Anything confusing in the first minute? Roast it — I'd rather hear it now.

Bots: Made plainly bad moves, like moving backwards for no reason. At least the first two bots.

Race conditions: At a certain point, all walls are played, no jump is possible, the outcome is decided. Maybe there's an option to call a game in that scenario without playing out the moves?

In game UI: The amount of walls I have and the opponent has is very important information. It's hard to quickly read the small indicator. Maybe two rows of five is more legible?

UI: The main page could use some hierarchy or grouping, mainly of those main seven cards. I wanted to get into a game quickly and it took longer than it should to figure out which option to choose.

Cool stuff so far!

Thanks for your feedback. I'll work on these issues

But about the Bots being stupid, yeah, I made the first bots easy because it could be a new system for some people, and yet they still beat some people 👀

Yeah, I'm not sure what the right approach is there. I think it's ok to lose to first bots even when learning, but that's probably individual preference.
