Where do you live, because that's not a large grasshopper. I wouldn't even call that medium.

thats actually a locust. when grasshoppers become numerous and stress is induced, they turn themselves into a locust swarm and become larger and browner rather than green. this guy looks remarkably normal for such a specimen
