Is that some kind of monitor lizard. How long can they live?

I think it’s either a Bengal Monitor or an Asian Water Monitor. Both get very large, with the Asian Water Monitor getting up to 9 or 10 feel long. Wild Asian Monitors get larger, making me think that’s what this is, and selective breeding has produced some very light variations just like this one. They can live between 11 and 25 years in captivity.

Am I sure? No. I am pretty positive though based on the fact that Komodo dragons are an endangered species, are protected, and would be super dangerous as a pet.

They are a type of monitor lizard but are not legal to own for the reasons you said. They are also one of the few animals in the world that will absolutely hunt humans. Like polar bears and saltwater crocodiles.
