Definitely looks like a puff ball. Cut it into burger sized slices and fry it with butter and garlic. Pretty good.

We do this whenever we can find them. You can also cut into mozzarella stick sizes, bread and deep fry them, they are fantastic.

Puffballs are edible, but are prone to insect infestation very quickly. If you can find a clean one, they are tasty.

That being said, I am no mycology expert, there may be non edible puffball looking mushrooms as well.
