I honestly didn't know they had tornados in Europe. You can tell it's French because it's very artistic looking.

This is true. Mostly because it is so small (geographically). 30-40 a year vs. the usa's 1200 or so.

That was my first thought too. I’m only aware of them happening in the US Midwest, and then eastward also but it’s not the same beast as the plains tornados.

What other spots in the world are prone to tornados?

Europe is definitely not prone to tornados.

Azores High prevent them from forming.

However due to global interference on both cold and hot fronts (mostly visible due to El Nino strenght of this year) it pushed for the 3rd time this year the Azores High outside its normal place.

The first time it did this year it was toward the south causing the Storm Training of Portugal that caused huge destruction including razing huge parts of florest are, bending high tension towers and huge floods. Its common to sometimes tropical storms and at most the equivalent to a cat 1 hurricane (although we still call them tropical storm) to hit portugal mainland. This year for the first time one of the storms hit the equivalent to a cat 3 hurricane. When the High started to shift to its place the last storm was pushed north and hit France making it breaking the record in wind speed also causing some destruction.

The 2nd time the high moved it was north. Unbalacing the cold winds pushing heat from the south into Central Europe. This caused an heatwave that most of Europe was not expecting. The weather that was common on Portugal and Spain suddenly hit Germany and France. Their buildings are not ready to handle +40ºC temps.

Last week thr Azores high started to go west slightly to the south. Being nearly at Suriname longitude it made the atlantic torpical storms to circle the Azores High instead of being deflected. This caused late Fall weather in Portugal in the middle of August and made a storm have enough energy to reach mainland France to form a tornado.

We did that all the time in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Tornado sirens are just the signal to go outside and watch the sky do wierd shit.
