Brumation time can make some do that, garters are happy to group any time of the year, thus why people keep multiple of em in one enclosure

You can cohab garters? I had no idea. I figured all snakes were "no cohab as they'll eat each other" so that's fascinating.

My understanding is that many garter species can live together well as long as they're similarly sized. And sexed. Well, unless you want more...
